When I was in school, I remember unquestioningly accepting whatever the
history books said--and the "slant" the writers put on things. Now, like you, I wonder about some of it. You have used expressive metaphors and good examples. (Note: I agree with wat you said in the notes.)

Fantastic post, my friend :)
I have always had many questions about our history. I sometimes wonder if it's all factual. I know we will all know the answers to all our questions someday. I do have many.
A great post to get our minds to think.
Thanks for sharing!
Always your fan,
Shana :)

Many things work in this. The rhyming, the rhythm, the word choice... fantastic!! It is also insightful, for sure. Very interesting to think that history as we know it may not be fully true. There's no way of knowing. Even with written records and witnesses, books, monuments, etc.

Definitely a beautiful picture of the butterfly, Roy. I am so glad you eliminated the part that God and His Son-Christ played, it would draw away from the real meaning. That being that only God knows the absolute truth. Blessings.

Roy, a very interesting poem, and your notes are just as interesting. I think you are right about your observations, and there is certainly a lot we don't know. I do think that some historical fiction can be as close to the truth as a historian's facts. Well done. Terry.

Roy,
Good questions. I'm sure others have pondered this before - you know, I really haven't. I've never really given the veracity of history much thought. I think there are enough compounding, collective sources to show us that many of these (most recent) things really happened. But you have a great point. Nice!

Your poem is well written, Roy, and poses questions that we often think of. The Bible says that all scripture is inspired by God, written as holy men of God obeyed the voice of the Spirit to write. It is the only history we can fully trust.

Amen! All of written and spoken history will have the slant of the speaker and the writer. Even recent history like that of the American Revolution is recorded and told very differently here than in Canada, UK, or Australia. I like that only the Holy Spirit can share Truth in "perfect pitch."

When police interview witnesses to crimes, the witnesses always have a different version to what they saw. It does make one wonder about history. We believers know that the Bible was inspired by God, so it's true. Or we can pray about it and get the answer. Thank you for sharing.

I understand your pondering and also why you didn't include the history of Jesus.
I wonder how the history of today will be written since we can't agree on what's happening and why and will it be left to those who will only see it from their perspective?
Well done Roy.
Blessings
Janet
