Wow, this is really interesting, Beth! I used to hate figs because they were forced upon me in unpleasant forms, but when I tried fresh ones at a fig orchard when down south, I was pleasantly surprised. You've done an excellent job of explaining this to us. Well written. Sorry you lost all those plants.

A couple of things: you've changed from past tense to present in this sentence. "She was like me and didn't believe it either, but when the two of us are talking and I'm near the computer, we both learn new facts."

"Once the new wasp(s) leave the nest..."

Thank you Judy, I appreciate the review. I found the information to be both interesting and disturbing. It made me grieve a little less about losing my trees. We've had a lot of rain so I'm hoping some thing will grow back from the roots.

Your dear son has taught you something. Isn't it amazing how we think, and really how ignorant we are, God, who is the ultimate being, and yet He used the fig tree blossoming, as a sign of His impending return, the fig tree is the symbol of Israel, I love the interdependence of creation, reflecting our own interdependence on each other and nature, beautifully written, Beth, blessings Roy
Typo : Because wasp(s) lay their eggs

Thank you Roy. Nature is amazing. The more I learn about how complicated and detailed creation is the more I'm blown away but the fact there are people who still believe it all just happened with a creative force being involved.

This was a most interesting tale. I have learned something from you as well. I might copy this and send it to my Sis In Law if you don't mind as my brother grew fig trees in the back garden at the family home for years. I absolutely LOVE Fig Jam!

Thank you for an excellent review. I don't mind you sending it at all. My mom made fig preserves which are very sweet but delicious. By the way there is another chapter to my biography out called "Do We Really Need a Sun Room. I don't think you've read it. I posted it yesterday.

You did a great job with this info on the figs tree, the figs,
and the fig wasps, not to mention your story, Beth. I did learn
a lot about the whole process. I never liked figs and would never
eat one. As far as the other plants that were cut down, I would've
been mad.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you Jan. I was pretty upset about all the plants that was cut down. The Camelia was so beautiful and was a tree that bloomed all winter. I was especially sad about losing that. I'm not sure I will be able to enjoy figs any more. It never occurred to me I eating bugs.
