Zanya, I am overwhelmed by your enthusiastic response to my poem. Thank you for all that praise and those six bright stars.

I thought it was a real place but it seems to be Bierstadt's painting that conjured up this supernaturally peaceful place. But I can't help thinking of the meaning of his German name and wonder if the peaceful state is due to beer. Just kidding. Beautifully written and best wishes in the contest!

Actually this WAS a real place when he painted it in the 1870s and settlers had not invaded yet. Many thanks, lyenochka, for your kind praise.

This is beautiful rhyming poem about a very special place, it makes me want to go there too. We are all so lucky to have these places to go to. A fine contest entry, best of luck. :)

Bierstadt has that ability to make the viewer want to go to any of the places he?s rendered on canvas. Thank you very much for sharing and praising my poem.

Your well chosen words beautifully and creatively describe a quiet, uncomplicated environment suitable for meditation and reflection. Your rhyming pattern flows consistently smooth, with vivid imagery and a final stanza justifying the entirety of the poem. I would like to go there also. Well done. Best wishes in the contest.

There's nothing like the communication one receives through the senses when one connects with nature, that wonderful that permeates existence, the life of heaven on earth is a delight for the human soul. Beautifully written, smooth, articulate and so well rhymed with artwork to match, well done, blessings Roy

Comment from Olivanne Marsh
I loved the imagery you used, such as: "The glass-smooth water hardly stirs while sheer cliffs seem to stretch and yawn." The rhyme seems so natural, not forced or contrived, but the rhythm is a little conventional to my thinking and too slow. I am not a poet, so take the comment about the rhythm for what it's worth coming from a reader who doesn't have any of your expertise. I find it helps to read a poem out loud to get all the music right and to feel it as the writer intended. This rhythm of this poem when I read it aloud seemed clunky. Like a one foot in front of the other, when I thought you could be aiming for a light tip-toe. Maybe just me.

Thank you, Olivanne, for your wonderful praise of my imagery and rhyme. The rhythm is basically iambic (da dum da dum), but I appreciate your comments.

This is a wonderful poem, filled with a sense of peace, beauty and serenity. If I had any sixes left, I would offer one to you. It is worthy, with its lovely rhyme and metre, and lyrical imagery. I wish you success in the Rhyme It contest.

I love that picture. No one could say they would not love to visit this place. It reminds me of the old days when people rode their horse everywhere. And in those days, the water was not filled with the chemicals and pollutants threatening our entire population. Thank you for sharing your great story and picture. Have a great weekend.
