Those campfires have burned many acres of land. They are great to have, as long as you put them out before leaving. Sometimes you can look into one of those fires and see some odd shapes. One night, my husband and his friend claimed they saw an old lady's face. Neither one of them believed in ghost. However, it was funny to hear them admit seeing something, whether it was real or not.

I offer only one suggestion; I would make the background black instead of brown. It will make the red lettering and the visual more dramatic. Good luck in the contest.

This was very intense with the fire, embers and smoke. It moved and I especially love the last line about the smoke curling. Left it moving on. This was quite evocative and beautiful.

Great twenty syllable poem.
I would vote for it.
I love the picture, too.
Gazing into embers such as those is mystifying, the variety an 'dancing' of the glow. To reflect on 'the shadows of memories ' adds depth to the fabric.
