Now you have us sitting forward: "I was so intrigued that I could hardly wait to ask about it." I'm glad you are catching his treatment: "He did those things as well, but he also was known for applying slaps, and other means of physical abuse." Why does everything have to be 'beeping' political? This is a strong tribute to his compassion.

Yes, he is a man of principles learned at home and strengthened by his life experiences. He does indeed have the courage to stand up for his commendable views, such as defending others being mistreated or oppressed. Despite instances of racism he must have endured, there is not a trace of backlash in him, as he prefers to exemplify the behavior that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed of. Though the title of his autobiography is Another Lost Boy, he is, in fact, someone who makes a positive difference in this world.

I was in the USMC. Boot camp was very physical (very), but slapping? Wow! That would be tough to take.

I agree with you there, I love these interviews, I have had my youthful thinking adjusted, I have protected unfortunates who were bullied by other boys in my youth, and never knew why. But I understand men like Nolan, the only reason I am glad I was born white, I haven't had to suffer the abuse that racist folk will, although I'm fortunate to live in a country where it doesn't happen so badly. I love this man, Nolan, he has been a good supporter of my writing, we have things in common, we hate the same behaviour, beautifully written Debi, blessings Roy
