Thank you for sharing. This is very beautiful. You can feel the love here, which is something that no fiction writer could ever capture. There is a sense of family here that is present throughout. Thank you so much.

My goodness, Mary, this is a very powerful true story about your dad and mom. I am grateful for his service. I hope your parents are still alive. Mine died long ago. Congratulations on your 100 post milestone.

Thank you for your very kind words. My mom died when I was 7, and my dad passed away some 30 years ago when he was 65.
    Thank you for review.

My mom died when I was 10. I know it's very hard.

A virtual six. A profound post that captures the voice of your father and his experience on V-day and his invasion deeper into France. He put on a brave face, only dimly reflecting on the horror of Omaha Beach through the behavior of the lietenant. Well done.

It is so sad, Mary, what our soldiers have gone through and what they still must endure today and remain devoted in the face of diversity and uncertainty bestowed on our country in recent years. Yet, this letter is so beautiful. I send thoughts of respect and gratitude to your father and a heartfelt thanks for his service to our country. Best, JohnC.

Very nicely done.
When I was overseas, letters home were very awkward: "I'm fine. Hope you're fine, too. I love you." Rinse and ... well, you know.
Congratulations on your milestone!
Best wishes.

These sort of remembrances should be published so that we are reminded how difficult it was to have a member of the family go off to war and those at home never know if they will return, there positivity in letters sent home and sometimes these are the only words some families are left with, a poignant write Mary, love Dolly x

This was so beautifully done. I really felt like I could hear the soldier's voice. You made it realistic that he couldn't share where he was or what he as about to do so he wrote it in his head. I guess V-mail could be for Victory, or veteran or maybe in this case, Virtual. Thanks for sharing and congrats on your 100th post, Mary!!

Congratulations on your 100th post, Mary. You did a great job
sharing the thoughts your dad may have written if allowed. The
letter flowed smoothly with great details. I could feel the love and
admiration for family in the words. What a keepsake the original
letter would be. You gave readers some history of WWll and some
great thought of your father fighting for our freedom.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

How wonderful it is to still have this loving letter from your dad, all the way from the war in Europe, Mary. I like the way you embellished it a bit for this story. Thanks for sharing. And congratulations on reaching another milestone!

I hope to see you soon - how tragic not to have been allowed to write that to your wife. I remember the slogan "careless words cost lives", but so I think did the feeling of being abandoned, and loss. War is a terrible thing, as we are still seeing today. Thanks for sharing this well-written peek into the lives of your parents. Kate xx
