Your poem reminded me of the lyrics of the song by Carly Simon "You're So Vain". It's always sad to see someone become a legend in his own mind. But the world is full of them. And we all need a reality check now and then to make sure we don't go down the same road!

June,
You are spot on with that analogy re Carly Simon and her " Your so Vain ". Thanks for taking the time to read and review my poem. In my early days I think I was a bit like this. Take care and have a lovely day.

This was a fun piece. Sometimes the mirror can make us feel very confident about ourselves (though sometimes I can do the opposite as well). I loved the rhymes. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your review. Yes I am a bit like that with photos as well . How others see us is beyond our control but it is indeed interesting.
You have a great day.

I like the way you blended a human being with the objective content .
Yes,painting the pallet so well in rhyme.
This is almost like a picture of Adonis.
Lying in his bed gazing out the window wondering what his purpose is?

Seemed he believed he possessed "a certain something" more than perhaps others witnessed in him and no problem adoring himself in the mirror for that reason.
Too many times vain people like him fancy themselves to be "full of airs" they do not really have.

Heh heh. I think I definitely felt like that as a teen, but could be torn apart very quickly like an over inflated balloon, but beautifully written, for a brief moment I thought you were talking about me...of course you were. Beautifully written Barry. Blessings Roy

Hah! This is witty! It seems "self-reflection" ought to mean more than gazing in the mirror and imagining our grandness! Most of us would be aghast at the chasm between the image we "think" we project" to the world and what the world really thinks of us!
Some stay deliriously happy in their delusions!
Some can never see a single thing to love...
I imagine the truth lies somewhere between the two extremes.

A person may enjoy looking at themselves in a mirror or taking a selfie on their phone. Beauty, however, lies in the eye of the beholder. There is a lot of imagination in that person. Conceited, perhaps. It is impossible to tell how many accidents such people have caused. People who are in love with themselves won't get far with arrogance. I appreciate you sharing this.
