Ciao Sugarray!

I should be asleep but I'm restless . I'm glad I took a peek at fanstory.

Your words describe well the calming vibe one feels just looking at the beautiful water
painting your chose.

I would love to lull in all that blissfulness, peacefulness, weightlessness.

A Bamboo grove is very striking ,it's such an
unique plant .. it takes up to 5/7 years to ground its roots and then suddenly it starts to shoot up very fast , nearly a metre per DAY. Yes you read right PER DAY.

It is very hard yet its long stalks sway in the breeze.

In winter the snow makes the stalks bend but come Spring they spring back with ease never breaking.
The power/ strength to spring back from adversity can be a metaphor for us when we face the many trials in our life.

I'll try to get some sleep now,

Notte!

Hello Melissa,
This is a wonderful traditional haiku (5-7-5) you've written with excellent imagery and connection in lines one and two. The marvelous satori line invites reflection and extends the poem beyond the words.
Bamboo is a significant element in Asian culture.
In Philippine mythology, the first man (Strong) and the first woman (Beautiful) emerged from within the hollow of bamboo.
It is a symbol of person's soul.
Well done.
Best wishes.
Robert

Thank you Robert. I really appreciate your thoughts on this haiku. I am always unsure if I get the tone right and use a significant satori. I have even taken to reading famous haiku and writing practice verses that shall never see the light of day LOL. Have a lovely day! :)

Hi Melissa,
This haiku shows how much you learn in quiet times. The moon inspires us to introspection and meditation. Both can help us grow.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Joan

This poem has a very serene feel to it. I think the picture of the soft green bamboo added to the poem. Thank you so much for sharing, and best wishes to you.

This 5-7-5, Bamboo Moon, has the right set up and creates a scene where one can find his/her center and allow peace to enter and spread.

-Nice artwork, Melissa.
-The syllable count is good, along with the topic.
-It is also a good haiku with effective nature and seasonal imagery
describing this special moon.
-A very good satori line, as well.
-A good entry; good luck!

Your 5-7-5 beautifully captures the mood from the painting. I've not yet ventured into the land of haiku,5-7-5 or any of its three-lined cousins. I don't know if I could handle the restraints. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you Charles. I hope you do test the waters of haiku because it is challenging and demanding ~ especially if done well.

I was just picturing myself meditating by the lake on a cool autumn day. Guess we're in a similar mood. Lovely presentation for the contest. Should do well.

Lovely work. I'd never heard of a bamboo moon, but there are several different designations for moon. Lovely imagery of the moon and the thought that is provokes meditation. Great use of illuminating, as you can appreciate the double meaning of the word. Best of luck in the contest. judi
