Wow! This was really scary! The fact that you were with family members who felt the couple's presence conforms it. I had to take this thriller to blue ribbon status. Super true story flash, my friend. Congratulations on your win too!
Sending you my best today as always.

Congratulations on your well deserved win. This is a frightening story that I would hope was a complete fabrication in perfect time for Halloween. However, your notes tell us it really happened, and I believe it. I'm glad you and your family were able to get out safely. Did the house ever sell?

If the feeling to leave was that strong perhaps you were somewhere where you might not should have been.

Do not know about ghosts but having lived there sixty years the old couple's presence could indeed probably be felt.

Not a place, especially youngsters, would want to hang around.

I have read this before, and felt assured I left a comment, but the box is void of what I would have said, if I wrote it at all. Being a senior citizen, that is my privilege, to forget. Well done.

I have read stories like yours before. When a person goes into an older home, where there are pictures left on the wall, there is no tranquility; but lots of frightening thoughts about why they were never taken when they moved from the house.

Your story is told well. I can feel the fear you and your daughters felt, knowing something was very wrong. Seeing the man in the chair and him being gone in a flash would certainly be unnerving.

Finding out the old couple recently died there would have also been eerie.

Excellent entry for the Ghosts, Evil Spirits, or Both writing prompt contest.

I love scary stories and movies. Your ghost story is believable for that genre.

Well done! Good luck in the contest.

Love it. And believe it too. When I bought my home that I still live in. It was haunted also for the same reason. But at least she was friendly. I could smell coffee brewing every morning. She annoyed me when sh would turn on the radio full blast at night and constantly switch stations. This is no bull. But she finally left after a while. She did many other things. My kids still talk about. Lol. So cool
Written beautifully as usual. Do you still live ther?

By left what happened? Just went on her own? Or you did something?
reply by Barbara Peabody Pouliot on 12-Oct-2022
I think she left on her own.
Not sure. I do not sense her anymore. I was a little weird, but I never felt alone. When I say I smelt coffee, There was really no coffee brewing. I would see like a light fog like image sometimes at night. But it really did not scare us.
We would joke around and say her name and say what are you up to today. Well I did Sage the house from top to bottom once after my daughters husband left. To get his negative energy out.
I will tell you though after a couple times of the radio blasting and erratically switching stations, I unplugged it and took out the back up batteries, lol

    Do you still live there?

I don't actually believe or disbelieve in ghosts, but I do know there are things that are inexplicable. The Bible says their can't possibly be, but their is demonic activity, whether that is the answer or not. I have heard of these activities, and they can be cleared out, but once again it's only hearsay. But an excellent post Douglas, blessings Roy

    Hi my good friend Roy.
Serious question: Is the Holy Spirit a ghost? We had a big inner circle discussion-border line argument about that last night.
    Thanks for the review.
The comp is a nail biter, but aren't they all? I expected way more competitors as Halloween is approaching,
    God Bless!

Technically speaking, the Holy Ghost is invisible, but has never died, but certainly not malevolent, except on judgement day. I?d rather be inhabited by Him thank the alternative, like I said, it?s not my experience, but then?? Thanks Douglas.

This story, The House on Galbraith Line, lets the readers in on a a supernatural encounter which was real enough to convert a skeptic into a believer.
