I think this song had about the same effects on about all of us the first time we heart it, or at least most everyone that I've ever talked to about it. Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting and very well-written, thoughtful and informative. I don't know the song as I don't believe we head it in Australia, but it sounds very meaningful. Best wishes for your entry.

thank you for your gracious story about our American heroes, who recognized their love for our country. I also liked J.F.K and Martin Luther King, Jr., and Honest Abe. Like your accountability of America's great men.

Excellent choice for excellent reasons. Very nicely written.
He signed the Emancipation Proclamation Act freeing all slaves. - The proclamation only freed slaves of the states that rebelled. Maryland slaves were not freed.
Best wishes and good luck in the contest.

A song from the past that resonates with today's world. Here we are, all these later, still fighting some of the battles we thought were fought and won years ago. I always loved that Martin Luther King line" We, as a people, will get to the promised land.' Although I know he may have been speaking to his black brothers and sisters on the surface, I believe he spoke to all of us willing to fight for what is right. Great post and good contest entry. ann

I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciate your historical account of the song, "Abraham, Martin, and John." I was devastated when Martin Luther King and the Kennedys were assassinated. I was also in my early twenties, and couldn't stop crying finding out there was that much hatred in this country. Thank you for including information about the song's writer and singer. I will check YouTube for recordings by the artists you named. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. My husband, Brian, is positive that Abraham Lincoln and John Kennedy were messengers from God. I'm thinking we that to the US today. Good luck with the contest.

You did a great job, Mystery Author, with you contest entry.
The song selected was awesome then as it is now. You described
the events and the men well. I liked how you put it into perspective
of your life and that of society at the time
Thank you for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

I wish you the best in the contest. You did a superb job of interpretation of the song's meaning. They were great men, inspiring and devoting their lives to this country. Andy Williams sung a great rendition.

I also tear up when I hear that song - even to this day. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that you and I, and others here, lived (and suffered) through 1968 - a terrible year for this country.

You talk about your emotional connection, a little about each person honored in the song, and who and how it was recorded (and covered). Very thorough and touching.

Take a look at the paragraph that begins, "I admired all the men . . ." - the second sentence in that paragraph seems awkward, maybe a missing word.

Take care and good luck in the contest.

Thank you for your very kind review, I will take a look at that sentence. Thanks.

You were right about it being awkward. But I think it had one word too many. I deleted one, and I think it reads better. Thanks.
