Hi Aryr,
This is a good eulogy for Meatloaf. I didn't know that he died. I think almost everyone in that era and even my kids have heard those two songs and some probably still know all the words when they hear them. I think he would have sung Amazing Grace well, too.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Thank you for telling me about Meatloaf. I didn't really know this singer and I'm glad that you told me more about his history. I just checked and learned he died of Covid. It's so sad. It would have been nice to hear him sing Amazing Grace.

But I digrest. (digressed) unless it's different in British English...

The best music of Meatloaf can be heard on both Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II. The one you highlight is great. I would do anything to own it, but I won't do that.

A great tribute to Meatloaf and to your favourite song of his. It's rare to find one who will do anything for love, and those words reveal just how much humans need love. Best wishes for your entry.

This is a very good entry for this contest, good luck. Thank you for entering. I certainly agree that Meatloaf was an excellent musician. The first time I heard his name, I thought this guy can't be any good. Just proves don't judge a book or artist by the cover or the name. Excellent work. Terry.

Nicely written.
I wished that he'd sang, just once, those wonderful words. - You don't need the he (had) sang. He sang would do the job.
Good luck in the contest.

Yes, Meatloaf was a talent, and anyone who takes time to memorize and study the words could have enjoyed and known for themselves. But I'm guessing you must be a young person, because 74 doesn't seem so old to those nearing those numbers. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much Ric for reading, reviewing and your amazing comments. For the record I am just shy of 74, lol. Old is old, lol.

There are some that would say 74 isn't that old. Clearly his music spoke to you. A lot of musicians cross the genre boundaries. From country to rock isn't that big a leap at all.

Best of luck at the polls.

Peace, Lee

A special song that means the world to me is 'I'd Do Anything For Love' by MeatLoaf. The words mean that he was willing to do absolutely anything for love!--I have to wonder why you translate the meaning of the title for us. It's rather redundant, don't you think?

Thank you so much humpwhistle for reading, reviewing and your great comments. I am just shy of being 74, so it is not old but he died anyway.

Dear Mystery Writer,

I have read several of these entries at this point - and I think I may like yours best of all. It's straight to the point (with only one wee rabbit trail --
--wink--) and doesn't get muddied up with extra notes that don't fit. You are clear on the talent of Meatloaf and your appreciation for him. Thanks and good luck!
