I think I just read the winning post in this contest. Memorable story beautifully written. Vic became real the readers before the letter announcing his death and he remained so afterward. Great job. ann

1967 was the year a Whiter Shade of Pale hit the charts. That was also, the Summer of Love when the hippie movement spread across the country--mostly from San Francisco. I had a 'Victor' in my life, too. Similar circumstances, but a few years earlier.
Your tribute to Victor is touching, and serves as a reminder of how much is lost by needless conflict.
