Human or feline or our canine friends all must face the painful actions of a world without care for others. I am happy that these babies, though doubtful, began to trust their rescuers and discovered a better life.

A lesson that not everyone gets a chance to learn.

Hugs, Carol

Thank you, my friend. Blacky and his sister, Sweetie, still live with me today. I had doubts about a three-legged cat, but Blacky gets around fine. His personality is unique and he is quite the clown.

This was like the beginning of a good Disney movie. I liked that the cat relating the story seemed mature. But I could picture a small frail kitten the whole time. Great job on this. Gretchen

This is an endearing sad story with a happy ending and it is so cruel to do this to cats and I know it happens all the time, your cat sounds happy though, love Dolly x

Thank you. Blacky is a happy cat. He is a clown and loves to pull the poor crippled cat routine when people come. In reality, he can run as fast as he ever did. His sister is still here too.

I love your story of the pragmatic feline survivor. The down to earth portrayal of the hard times survived and the rewards of survival is heroic (whether the model for the tale thought that or not).

Thanks for reading and commenting. Blacky and his sister are alive and well yet today. If Blacky misses his leg, one can't tell.

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt entry with us. I have two male orange tabbies we rescued from a drainage ditch. They were about 5 weeks old. That was over 10 years ago. I'm glad Blacky and his sister found a good home.

Thank you. I'm glad there are others who will take the time to care for these lost ones. Blacky is still alive and well, his sister too.

Poor kittie. I am glad that he found safety and a loving home. Cats are cool :) (dogs and other household animals are cool as well) :)
Thank you for sharing your story.

I wondered what a tripod cat was. Poor little thing! To have to go through that in life. But it looks like the cat in your well written story made lemonade.

Great luck in the contest!

Thank you. Blacky is quite the character and I'm glad the vet talked me into giving him a chance as a three-legged cat. Both Black and his sister are alive and well.

Awe, the poor little kitty, but at least now there is someone to help care for and spoil Blacky with extra treats. I'm sorry for your loss, but glad you have your kitties, dog, and niece, Cindy, to keep you company. Thanks for sharing

Awwww, what a beautifully written story. Poor Blacky, what an awful beginning to life, but the story is so often true. Good thing he had the kind human to come along. Whatever happened to the sister?

Good job of telling an engaging story, but, also of bringing up a social issue that needs addressing.

Best of luck in the contest,
Rhonda

What started out sad ended on a very happy note. And, of course, cats do know how to play the room for extra treats and pets. I have two of my own and I'm onto their tricks!

This is a heartwarming story for the contest. Good luck with the contest.

Thank you. I rescued a lot of cats when we had the dairy farm. Pwople considered our place a dump-off site.
