Unfortunately that does happen, and much too often. Why people can't take unwanted animals to the many sanctuaries around, I don't know. Your story does have a happy ending, even though one did have a leg amputated because of cancer. This is a lovely contest entry. Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you. Blacky and his sister are still with me and doing well. Blacky is a clown. One of my friends is superstitious about black cats. Everytime this person comes, Blacky will sit and stare at him or put his paw on the guy's leg and beg to be picked up. The expression on the guy's face is hilarious.

This is a very well-told tale and by a cat with a sense of humor. I got a good laugh over the ending and how he gets extra treats. We have a new kitten who is already angling for treats.

Thank you. Blacky is a clown and really plays on the poor crippled cat routine. He will drag his butt and act like he can't walk to get attention. In reality, he can run across the yard as fast as he ever could. Thanks for the six stars, I appreciate them.

I'm so glad this had a happy ending even though Blacky lost a leg. You described his predicament so well as to make this reader want to adopt him and his sister. The third paragraph is the climax of this story.

I do have a cat named Blacky, and he did lose his leg to cancer. I had my doubts about a three-legged cat, but he does great. Thank you for reading and commenting.

I'm so happy to hear that. I love, love, love cats and have always owned one.

A well written story with a sad beginning but a fairly happy ending. Cats are resilient creatures and usually triumph in the end. Best of luck in the contest. Evi

Thank you. I had my doubts about a three-legged cat. My vet said they do fine, so I decided to give Blacky a chance. He doesn't seem to miss his leg at all.

Your contest entry read well, Prettybluebirds. I enjoyed reading
to learn what happened to the little kitties. I'm thrilled they
were rescued. You told their story well after the rescue. Even cancer couldn't keep Tripod down. Thanks for the notes.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you. I do have a tripod cat named Blacky. He got cancer in his hind leg when he was around four years old. I first intended to put him down, but the vet talked me into giving the cat a chance. I haven't been sorry.

I love your story, there will be jewels in your crown someday for your kindness. I was Catdaddy, one was a most black tortie (a little gold in her coat) She was Hallie Berry. A really sweet girl. Thank you for righting and writing this story! Terry.

Thank you. I spent a lot of years rescuing drop-off cats. We had a dairy farm and people thought it a good place to dump cats and cogs.

I just adopted my brother's black cat Beezus because he was moving. Your tale is true to life, it is heart breaking when animals are just dumped. I like how this story is from the cat's viewpoint.

Thank you. Blacky still lives with me. He is around eight years old. He got cancer in his hind leg and I figured I would have to put him down. My vet friend convined me that cats would do well with three legs. He was right.

This is an adorable story that Blacky told. I'm glad Pup, the curious dog sniffed around and found the two homeless kittens. Blacky is a great, creative storyteller who gave all necessary details so the reader could envision his experiences. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you. I do have a tripod cat named Blacky. If he could talk he would probably have told his story this way. Blacky uses the poor crippled cat routine whenever he wants something special.

Good to see something from you again. I am a cat lover so I enjoy reading anything feline-related. They always make me smile.
Where I worked in Johannesburg we had a 3-legged warehouse cat that we very unoriginally called tripod. It had a friend who was 4-legged. They were inseparable, almost glued together. We also had a spider called Boris. We fed it flies! Oh, happy days.
Have a great day xx

Thank you. Your story sounds like a good one too. I would like to hear it. I need to get back to writing again and will try to do more.

You personified your cat rather well. I especially liked the size / perspective consideration. The cat saw a puppy as a large dog. All things are relative. Thanks for sharing. Kate xx

Thank you. Actually, the dog's name is Pup. I still have her and Blacky yet today. We are growing old together.
