Hi Jim, just gives a person chills
thinking of the coming of Autumn...and
all the holidays...and the smell of all
those pumpkin pies...

I live in a corn belt...and everyone has just
about cut down their corn...and picked up all their
pumpkins...

it reminds me of your poem...the family finishing their
picking and pulling for the year...I love it...

I love your poem my sweet friend...and love this picture...
perfect for the season...and perfect for your Poetry Club...
very nicely written you...love Linda xxoo

Linda, thank you! Thank God for all the small farmers in America who trust in the land, Mother Nature and the cycles of life. Those who Year in and Year out feed the masses. Those beltways of faith, friends and community that do exist but are seldom in the limelight. May you delight in all your forthcoming weekend fall celebrations. 🙏🙏🎶🎶 Jim

Hi Jim... your so welcome my sweet friend...

    and Amen for the farmers...

I live in a small town called Sandwich...
when my son first told me he was moving here...I said...SANDWICH???...I had never
    heard of the place...
after my husband passed...my son told me to stay with him for awhile...and I have lived here about 11 years now...and have my own home...

most peoples homes...are also their businesses...a lot of Antiques stores...
and they don't allow any big companies out
here...Walmart tried to come hear...but the
elders who run Sandwich said...NO...and Olive Garden tried to come here...and they said...No...but don't feel bad for us...we just got our own Burger King...and if you
go to the McDonalds just about a half mile
down the road...on Sundays...you can go in and see all the regular seniors having breakfast...and it's all the farmers and their wives...and they won't allow for 4 lane
streets... we are two lanes...the elders don't want it to over populated...and our fair is the biggest event of the year...people come for miles to go their...and everyone is so friendly...very tight community...people
    look out for others...

one more story...when antifa and blm were
going town to town destroying people places...some of them pulled up to a little store here...got out of the vans...back hoods on...by the time they could even start a fire...not sure if it was 4 or 5 trucks pulled up...and it was redneck farmers...and men living out here...the guys in the black hoods...jumped back in their vans...and left...police in tow...

I pray your holidays well be full of family...friends...and love...and lots of good food...God Bless...love Linda xxoo 🙏🌼💖🍗🥦🥔😊🙏

Linda, thank you for your shared reflections on the gifts your experience?s in small town America. Having lived in Greater Seattle, and on the bay in San Francisco I celebrate with you that small communities can and often do still reflect the narrative of our heritage in so many positive ways and yes this a true blessing. We live on the outskirts of a town in apple country, where growers and there family?s struggle to make ends meet, like your our local store is either a dollar general of Hispanic retailer serving the migrant laborers who maintain the orchards and harvest the fruits. 🙏🙏🎶🎶🎶,

it's the same here Jim...farmers struggle
to make it some years...it truly is one day at a time...my prayers go out to them...they truly are a special group of people...sigh...
    🙏🌼😊🌻🙏

I'm not sure if I've told you about the effects of using chosen letters for alliteration. When we pronounce the letter p there is an effect of an explosion that takes place with our lips. This is appropriate for the meaning of this poem. There is more but this is enough.

way cool power about the fall harvest. Nicely captured the mood of the poem and the picture of the fall harvest. I like the characters you created out of the picture prompt.

What a great job you did of responding to the Picture This prompt. You capture the characters so well, allowing us to SEE what each is doing. And the Speaker's pride in the family's harvest really comes through. I might quibble with this phrase: "all that is last." But otherwise I really enjoyed your poem. Rod

Adroitly written. I feel as if I am in he field with these children, perhaps with my Nikon 300, snapping snapshots to remember the joy shown on these little imps faces.

Your poem describes that picture so well. I especially liked :
"Sister Bertie's pumpkin, close to her chest,
bends her backward, heavier than most."
Great rhymes and use of alliteration!
