Irish, this is a beautiful poem. Your words expressed your feelings and the emotion of losing a dear friend. I love the John Prine song I have it on my Alexa playlist, I play it I ride my exercise bike every day. Excellent job. Terry. PS. You got some gold and wheels inside you too!

Thank you, Terry, for reading, your in-depth comments, and all the stars! This girl and I were very close. She took her life at just 19.
I am up to 30 minutes on my exercise bike, alternating on the treadmill every other day, sometimes listen to country music, or Fox News.
    Cheers, irish

Unless she was cremated, to have no service or mourners at her funeral would be melonchaly, to say the least.

Your feelings for her shine forth in this poem, as do your descriptions concerning the one you wrote about and what resulted from her loss.

Left a bit unsettled by the beautiful artwork, but definitely moved by your words.
I still dream of friends who are now deceased. Sometimes, I am feel peaceful; at other times, I wake anxious.
This is a lovely tribute, and I am sorry for your loss...

Best Wishes!

Hello Irish,
This is a very cool poem to a departed friend. We all wonder, don't we? Why a person was called, before their time? My mother was almost 92. Very expected. 6 months later my sister, 58, totally out of the blue.
I feel them both with me all the time, especially when I'm not thinking about them... suddenly there she is, my sister, talking in my ear. lol
Life is strange,
Susan :)

Hi, Susan, thank you for reading, your great comments, and all the stars! You echoed my thoughts here, I do feel people I have lost close sometimes. Life is indeed strange, and life is also very fragile. And yes, those taken suddenly and too young, are the worst.
    Thanks again,

This is a well written poem for one who claims not to be a poet. Maybe you will become one now. Writing is very cathartic. It sounds like a lonely death. Not even parents or family mourned. Sorry for your loss.
This could be a new hobby for you.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Joan

You may not call yourself a poet, but it seems inspiration has certainly grabbed a hold of you with this fine work my friend. Wouldn't it be nice if death was merely a Transition to another dimension that could could still walk in the one left behind, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Hi Roy, thank you for reading, your encouraging comments, and all the stars! I think my Muse was right in there the day I wrote this. Thought about it for 3 days, with her right in my ear. When I sat down to write, it all came out in one huge gusher. I do believe death of the body frees the soul, and we are reunited with our loved ones.

Lovely poem. It is heartfelt. I felt the sadness of her loss. I didn't see or read anything that needed to be changed, because it felt complete just as it is.

You echoed my belief, I believe they are still here with us, in spirit.
We expect our elderly to pass, but when someone just 19 goes suddenly, you wonder as you feel the loss.

This poem, Called Home, is a nice tribute to a good friend called away and deeply missed. The sense of loss may never ease, but the distance between them and us narrows daily.

The author's words were heartfelt, descriptive and creative. I found
these words mourning and missing a close friend. The poem flows and
connects well. Thank you for the author's notes - they compliment the
words of this poem. The artwork is perfect and goes well with this poem.

This devotional came to me in a dream. I thought about it for three days until my Muse made me write it down. It all came out at once.
I do still feel her here, in spirit.
