Who's say one isn't a poet? There are many styles of poetry.
You did a great job, Irishauthorme. I enjoyed reading your
heartfelt poem. I could feel your sadness as I read. Your rhymes
worked well, the image choice was a great pairing, and your
message was clear. Losing someone you loved is always sad
no matter how much time has elapsed. You always think of
why and what if.

Hi Jan, thank you for reading, all the stars, and your great, in-depth comments. This lady and I were very close at one time, and I never realized just how much she meant to me until she was gone.
I think that I get help from somewhere out there.

That's a pretty good job for not being a poet. You have done a good job with the rhyme. A little work on the meter, and you will have a good one. Set this aside for a week or two, and then pick it up again. You will find a few things that you will want to change.

Your poem is well written, has good rhyming, and expresses the sadness you feel for your dear friend that has passed on. As we get older, it seems we lose them one by one.

Yes, we lose more every year. Only 4 members of my graduating high school class left, no more reunions.

John Prine will do that to you. He's one of the great American songwriters. Your loss is similar to mine. When my Mother died there was no service, just a call. What a wonderfully written poem. Best of luck with your writing!
