Hello, Mystery Writer!
I so enjoyed every stanza of your rhymed verse regarding the Pileated Woodpecker, but I dare not share this with my husband who is currently at war with the pileated "fiend" who thinks the cedar siding of our home is his grand buffet! Yikes!
You have characterized "Woody" very well!
Much enjoyed.

Best Wishes!

Thank you Diane for your kind comments regarding Prince Woody!
He is majestic looking, and has a confidence about him. I just love to see him come. However, that is so sad that birds like him are ruing your cedar siding.
Ouch! I don't blame your husband for being upset.
    Thanks again my dear friend!

He is indeed a beautiful bird, I take it he is diligent but perhaps the females may not be, they will flirt with whoever, I loved this poem. You've done a great job with it. It's written in heptametric stanzas and aabb rhyming, articulate, smooth, and most entertaining, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

Thanks so much Roy, for your very kind review and comments for my poem.
He is quite the bird but I know can do lots of damage to cedar siding on a house. Ours looks like wood, but is steel. If he ever tried, he would have one big surprise! Lol! Thanks again my very dear friend. I always appreciate it!

Absolutely beautiful and well presented poem about this "prince" - thank you for introducing us to the Pileated Woodpecker. He is certainly royalty - and so easy on the eye.

A great paean for the bird species - loved your imagery, visuals and presentation.

Good luck in the contest.

I enjoyed your poem very much, and the video you provided. We don't have them here in the UK, and I thought his 'voice' was so unusual. But what a beauty. Your poem is so educational to us who don't know him, and I appreciated that, and your author's notes. Excellent, and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

This poem, Pileated Prince in our Trees, is nicely penned and creates a relationship with this woodpecker which tightens the family aspect of people and nature.

The author's words are interesting, descriptive and creative. I have
never seen a Pileated Woodpecker! Thank you for the video - it was
great to see the bird up close. The poem flows and connects well. The
artwork is awesome and compliments this poem.

I understand when you say that these birds have a an air about them Some birds do have that, especially owls
I loved your poem .You have really romanticised the bird community and it was really fun too.You are lucky to have him as a visitor.

I thank you so very much Santha!. You are always so sweet and I appreciate your very lovely words. It truly was a hard time on me and my hubby knew I would have done it all myself if he didn't fool me. I was so happy when I found out we weren't having deer heats on a stick. Which sounded horrible. He was trying to make me more appalled so I wanted to be gone that morning. It is always so nice to hear from you and have you review my posts.
    So appreciated!
Thank you again my dear friend.

A beautiful bird and what a blessing to see him regularly. Your poem is creatively and thoughtfully written in his honour. Wishing you well for the contest.

Thanks Wendy, I truly appreciate your kind words for my romanticized version of his life. It was fun doing the research that I could turn into a fairy tale of sorts to try to make it more interesting. He really is amazing and I thank you once again my dear friend.

We have woodpeckers, too, but not like that one. They only come to our pine tree when it's very cold and food is scarce.
I enjoyed your poem about his mohawk hair and his gentle, regal personality. Best wishes in the contest!
Suggestion:
The truth is he is gentle, and love to join these get togethers (loves)
Thanks for the video, too!

Thanks so much Helen. I appreciate your lovely comments about our Prince of a bird. It was fun to do the research on him because he is my favorite bird.
I found it interesting that the male is a mate for life, but the female takes many partners. And yeah that sentence is a hard one because, he hasn't been asked to join the feeder crowd, office party kind of thing, lol, and I don't have room for the word, 'would' love to join the...... I will figure try to figure it out, but may use your suggestion. I appreciate it immensely!
Thanks so much my dear friend.

The truth is, he is gentle; he'd love to...

What a lovely bird poem for an exceptionally big and beautiful Pileated Woodpecker. I often see them in the woods while hiking or skiing. But they are always just pecking. I like the video when they are calling.

Well done.

Thank you so much sweet Jasmine girl.I think the birds in the video are more the small woodpeckers, but this guy has been measured and tagged by the DNR and is 21 inches. I know, he is big when he stretches out to look for danger around him. I thank you so much for your lovely comments for my poem, my dear friend.
