This is a well-written poem. It catches the essence of the woodpecker and tells in a majestic way how they help us to live more peacefully and with nature.

Thank you very much Jesse for such a kind review and comments for my Pileated Prince poem. He is really a fascinating bird and the DNR tagged him a while back and measured him. He is 21 inches when standing tall and when they stretched him. Thanks also for your kind comment about the contest. Appreciated my dear friend.

Lol, He is cool to look at so I did my research on them before writing my poem. Imagine the man being loyal, while the wife is fooling around. Lol!

Woodpeckers are so amazing and the sounds they make are so loud, they can be heard from miles away. They are also very beautiful birds in my opinion, you are very lucky indeed. Best of luck in the contest. :)

Thanks so much Sharon,! Yes, they are are amazing. The Pileated ones are much larger and only live in highly wooded areas. This particular one was tagged and measured by the DNR and he is 21inches when standing tall. Quite a beautiful sight. Thanks for the lovely review, my friend!

They truly are a territorial bird. They don't migrate and one bird usually frequents about a ten mile span. But he always comes back to the houses that give the best treats. Lol! Thanks for the kind and fun review and comments my dear friend. You are so sweet, June!

Thanks Paul, and you kind of seem like the kind who would also enjoy them. They are not actually on the endangered species list yet, but some others in South America. They are just a little different than these. It is funny to hear their funny sounds that really do sound like laughs. Our Woody has been a little down lately, since the Mrs has been on the prowl again, yet he is such a good guy that he stays loyal to her. That is weird that if God was going to make a bird or critter that was either loyal or not, you'd think that both would be the same. But then again, look at some people. Anyway, thanks my dear friend for the very kind review and comments.

Nope Tom, we are talking MN. This particular bird that frequents are house has been actually measured by the DNR and has a tag on it. He is 21 inches when he stretches out, but his wife is such a floozy that he has to stand tall every once in a while to watch for her a little bit better when she goes on the prowl. Yet the poor guy stays loyal to her all the time. Thanks my awesome friend for the very kind review and comments.

Thank you so much Sally. Actually this particular bird that likes our treats better than anyone else is 21 inches and the kids named him Woody. Yet the cartoon character was the redheaded woodpecker and we have those too. The reason we know his size is because the DNR tagged him and told us. They have to be big so he can watch out for the Mrs who is constantly on the prowl. Darn pileated women nowadays . Thanks so much my dear friend for the very kind review and comments.
