This is a great poem and has a happy ending I love how the stories told by the turkeys view it makes the story more fun and entertain to readers. your poem offers a humorous take on the life of turkeys during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Cute, cute! and clever. Good meter and rhyme.
However, my practical mind was saying, how did they get there?
That would be a funny picture if they were all flying in formation to England.
Turkeys are good, but give me a prime rib any day. Of course, we will have turkey on Thanksgiving.
Neat poem!

Very witty, creative and sadly funny in a sense. How much some people would wish the turkey battle was won in North America! But our unflinching tradition will not bow down. Thanks for the great post!!

Too funny! Gosh I could watch that turkey run all day.. well for a bit. I love the humour and wit. Easy flow and sensed of rhyme and a great poem to poke a bit of fun at a holiday (don't hold it against me, I'm Aussie so no Turkeys here).

Very clever and humorous. But I do feel sorry for the poor turkeys, so an annual exodus to the UK sounds like an excellent idea. Well written, and smooth rhyme and metre. Best wishes for your entry.

Of course people in the UK DO eat turkey at Christmas, so as soon as Thanksgiving is over, the big birds would have to turn around and fly back home to the US!!

Cute and amusing Thanksgiving poem, I think there is possibly a little work to be done to smooth out the meter in one or two places, but it rads OK as it is.

Good luck in the contest.

PS New Zealand doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving either and since Christmas falls in the middle of summer, we are more likely to be having salads and barbecues than roast turkey. Right now, at our rural property there are dozens of wild turkeys roaming around fancy free.

Yep, come and visit - we're just warming up into summer now although you wouldn't know it from all the rain we've had lately. Lots of lovely places to visit and we have gorgeous beaches around where I live too.

This is a good Thanksgiving contest entry. The text is a great size. I love you made the font a color. The rhyme scheme is good. The message of how the turkeys tried to change them from being the meat of the day is funny and well-stated.
I have two suggestions. Firstly, go to the end of the last word in your poem and hit enter at least twice. This will make your poem present balanced in the poem box.
Secondly consider not using the same end rhyme in verses 2 and 4-the words all and call. It presents as a stronger rhyming poem when end rhymes are not the same.
Your gif visual is funny and fits perfectly. Good luck in the contest.

This Contest entry was rich in Theme and Imagery.
...
The game plan is to rescue the turkeys and send them over to Britain because the UK don't celebrate Thanksgiving that way.
So, off they did trot from Hill to Dale and today?
It's Thanksgiving not Turkey Day!
Good luck with your contest entry.

The turkeys are safe at my house. None of my family is that fond of turkey, so we are having Salisbury steak and ham. I love the artwork you added to the writing. Best of luck in the contest.

I love ham...and also turkey! No wonder diets never work for me, I love food too much. Lol. Thanks so much for reading my poem. :)

This is very cute and a great idea to save themselves from being dinner. I'm not a particularly good poet, but I did notice you rhymed but the rhythm seemed to be off.
