The music your hear sounds lovely. I'd much rather hear that than the jingles of commercials that run through my head at night! (I'm glad to know your music is normal.) Interesting rhymes, great title, and the perfect visual. Nicely done! Sorry I have no six left. Blessings.

You are so right Carol. I never minded the music, but wondering where it was coming from was frightening. It didn't feel like it was coming from my head. So I really feared I was losing it. Lol! You are a sweetheart! Your virtual six is just as meaningful my lovely friend! Thank you so much for that.

My brain is always trying to figure out the musical intervals in those commercials in my head, and I get stuck. I mentioned this to my sister, and she said her brain is always counting numbers. Scientists used to say we only use 10% of our brain power. I guess we're using up some of our excess. Lol.

There you are. Where have you been? Nice to see you back again or was I dissed and forgotten. Aging is a disastrous proposition it seems; however, in faith I believe all these aches and pains will go away with the resurrection.

Lol, I've been here right along, but you've been reviewing me in blind contests so you don't even know. I am doing ok, and will be starting up w therapy again next week. ..... Y'now Tom, as far as those aches and pains are concerned, I just blame the midterm elections. So far they are responsible for all that is not well in the world,. It makes the hubby happy because then he doesn't get blamed.. Hehehehe!

How can I disagree. It's like Moses coming from the mountain with the Big Ten to find his people cavorting about worshipping Baal. A bad but "feel good" moment for them until his destroys the idol and friends.

Thank you so much Santha. It may seem silly that it worried me that people would think I was crazy, but it just didn't seem like it could be coming from my own head, as it felt and sounded so real. Thanks for your lovely comments my dear friend!

Debi,
Hi. I hope you're well on your way to recovery.
I used to lie awake at night, and I swear I could hear the star spangled banner play. No kidding! There was no radio or tv on. This was mid seventies. To stop the music, I joined the Army. Lol.
Your poem is excellent, in that it shows (to me) the anguish of hearing things that may not be real.
I learned that people can hallucinate with all five senses.
If I missed the point of your work, I apologize. It is a great poem, nonetheless.
Get well soon! (Covid)
Blessings,
Cindy

Not at all Cindy, you seem to have gotten it quite well, and so I believe you may have had what I was experiencing with only hearing the music at night when it was quiet, but mine never felt like it was in my head but like from a speake in the wall above my head. It is also called Hallucination tinnitus.
I now embrace it because I no longer fear the unknown. Thanks so much my lovely friend for the very kind cooments!

I think it is known as tinnitus and many of us experience it. I can hear music when I dry my hair with the hair dryer, our ears play tricks upon us Debi, a well written fun post, love Dolly x

Thanks Dolly, I hear the music at night when it is quiet. The fog horns and ringing, etc, I hear any time. Now that I know what the crystal clear music that sounds-like is coming from speaks in my walls are about, I no longer fear it. I embrace the music now. Thanks again my lovely friend for the very kind comments.

I don't hear music, but I do have tinnitus and hear two different notes that do not harmonize, one high pitched, and one low. Your poem beautifully describes your condition in rhyme. Now, after listening to your video, I WILL hear music (In The Mood) all night until I fall asleep. I've had tinnitus for so many years it no longer bothers me. Best wishes in the contest.

Hi Lorraine, Y'know I don't mind it at all now, as long as I know where it is coming from. It's just that it's not the same as having a song in your head that you can't get rid of, or doesn't sound like it's coming from the same places as the annoying tinnitus w foghorns, ringing etc. But when you hear it like a radio playing and coming from a speaker in the wall, it is frightening. And I guess that is typical of musical tinnitus as it throws its voices. Weird, huh? So I am amazed by all the different things people hear and this has been quite a learning experience for me too. I am glad yours doesn't bother you anymore.

I would so love to hear music, even Glen Miller and certainly the Andrews sisters. Be thrilled that is your tinnitus. I hear a battle between cicadas and grasshoppers over which is the loudest. I'll bet your doctor didn't offer a cure any more than mine did. Hope you are feeling better.

There is a lot to unpack in this verse and from your author notes.

I, perhaps like most, have never heard of this affliction.

I am glad you went to your doctor and I am more glad that it is not a serious concern.

I agree that hearing music all night is much more enjoyable than not.

I appreciate your presentation, creative use of the prompt, but most of all your honesty.

Thank you for sharing this important piece.

Thanks so much Kitty. I don't mind hearing music, but just want to know where it's coming from and why it is playing without me turning it on. That is how real it is.. For me it was the same as a radio playing. Thank you my dear friend for all the kind comments about this. I am thankful for your friendship and your honesty too!l

Thank you for sharing this with us. Sometimes at night or other times I hear music, but it is always gospel music. It helps me to concentrate on songs I can sing at church. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. thank you for sharing. love and blessings, teri

Thanks so much Teri. I don't mind hearing music, but just want to know where it's coming from and why it is playing without me turning it on. So when you hear the music, did you wonder the same thing? Or did yours seem to be coming from your head? Mine doesn't seem like.it is even related to m6 head. That is how real it is.. For me it was the same as a radio playing. Thank you my dear friend for all the kind comments about this. I am thankful for your friendship dear Teri!

As someone who has musicaphilia, the constant presence of songs in his mind, I empathize with the writer, who at least often hears "In the Mood," a pretty lively swing tune, especially when heard performed by the harmonically wonderful Andrews Sisters. ( I am still infatuated by the Abbott and Costello movie, "Hold That Ghost," which concludes with the Andrews Sisters singing "Aurora" in a big night club. It puts me in a different world and time.) Plus, I dream continually because of some idiosyncrasy. So I am intrigued by a poem about music and dreams. By the way, I don't control the music present in my mind; unfortunately, almost anything can be an earworm for me, including songs I truly dislike. Anyway, "Music of the Night" (which is an Andrew Lloyd Weber tune from that musical about the organist whose face was so scarred by an acid attack) is a light-hearted examination of one of the eccentric features that we ultimate primates can encounter.

    - Hi Frank, what an awesome review this was for me to read, I can relate to you in so many aspects, that I'm not even sure where to start, First, I am happy, that I now have the explanation of why this music sounds like it is coming from the walls. and that is crystal clear and will play all night long, but no longer bothers me as we always seem to fear the unknown. And as much as I wasn't a big Three Stooges and Abott & Costello fans, (I did love The Bowery Boys, especially Satch) if I wanted to enjoy sitting on my dad's lap and hear him laugh, then I would watch them w him. If I remember that particular A&C show was when they inherited a soda place. If I remember right, it had gangsters too, I think.
And I used, "Music of the Night for aTitle, because I loved that broadway Play, and it did work perfect. I didn't pick the song because it takes so long for it to get.to the good parts. However now I wished I would have used it anyway.
I appreciated your kind and comments. And yes, I may not be able to control where my music seems to come from or what song I must listen to, it beats the fog horns, ringing or pounding. And most definitely beats a construction site outside your bedroom window. Thank you my dear friend and it's always a pleasure!!!
