When joy turns to sorrow, each aspect of the experience creates bitterness, and a recognition that it may very well have been because of deceit on the part of the other person.

Thank you for sharing this poem with us. There are good metaphor usages in this. This poem caused feeling of sadness in me. I'm not exactly sure why. The package was excellent.

Gypsy,
As you know I am bipolar; I've spent time in hospitals, and your realistic tanka reminds me of the lonely frightening times I spent in some hospitals. (The Veteran's hospital was bright and cheerful, though).
Your words paint a great portrait of despair.
An excellent poem.
Blessings,
Cindy

Thank you very much, Cindy (*=*) I have been hospitalized for a 72 hours hold a few times and they were not sunny... they were okay. It's an interesting experience and it made me appreciate people that deal with mental health challenges. I used to write a lot about it but not so much now. Sometimes it's good to share but it leaves me in a very vulnerable situation. What makes it worth it, is when I find people like you who understand where I am coming from, family and friends of people like me, or people who suffer from it but don't know a lot about it. Thank you for sharing with me, I know we have write about it before. Take care, my friend. Thank you for the review.

This poem is full of complex emotions about the past. There were some "sugar coated" memories but they are now cause of tears and the love songs are remembered but what remains are broken promises.

For some reason this reminded me of a song that I sung many times in entertaining others, I can't think of it's name at the moment, ahh "Those were the days." By Mary Hopkin. Beautifully written Gypsy, well done, blessings Roy
