A nice, humorous poem that anyone can relate to. I have a friend who wears expensive shoes like Christine Louboutin and Jimmy Choo spike shoes, and I swear my feet hurt just looking at them.

Thank you Maria! You are so very sweet. I truly appreciate your lovely words for my poem. Sally wrote one called "I love high heel shoes", so this was my way of having a little fun with her and that's why I wrote this. Thanks again my sweet friend!.

I love your humor about these flat walking shoes. It's good to have a 'go to' pair of shoes in which you're always comfortable and that go with many kinds of clothes. Are there specific instructions for writing a 'circus poem'?
Have a blessed week.

Thank you Carol. As always you are so very sweet. I truly appreciate your lovely words for my poem. Sally wrote one called "I love high heel shoes", so this was my way of having a little fun with her and that's why I wrote this.I am not sure if there is a special recipe for the poems because Sally does more free verse and I do more rhyme. And I like mixing my lines up a little for elegance, so you'll see the difference between hers and mine. But there should be a contest for them. If I do one would you join? I did one another time called Spectacular Owl and it did very well.
I think you would like hers. She is very good at what she does because she invented these to be like going to the circus. With may things going on at once. A little bit of free verse with a little rhyme. And elegant lines all over.
There was one other reason I wrote this, I have Lupus and it weakened the bones in my legs so bad that they ended up looking like the letter X when I tried to walk. So eventually it took away my ability to walk .
It has been ten years and now. This Summer I had 2 surgeries to correct this, and with therapy coming here about 3 times a week, and think I will walk again by Spring. I didn't dare tell that until after the contest was over because so many know that story . So thank you again for the kind review, my lovely friend.

I loved your ode. The repetition is effective, and I loved when you added about the part about the two upper body parts. There is great detail about the clothing you wear them with. It was light and find.

Thank you Heather, you are so very sweet. I truly appreciate your lovely words for my poem. Sally wrote one called "I love high heel shoes", so this was my way of having a little fun with her and that's why I wrote this. I think you would really enjoy it. Her poems are like real circus with so much going on with a little rhyme and a little free verse, and not in any certain format. They are so much fun to write. So thank you again for the kind review, my friend.

The thing I love about these odes, they are usually spurred by a reaction to something that scratches or tickles the funny, although God has given me memories of a sordid and varied collection of anecdotes. Brilliantly done My dear friends blessings Roy

Oh Roy, you know I value nothing materialistic,(maybe my grandkid's drawings from when they were little) But was having a little fun with Sally about her circus poem, "I Love Those High Heel Shoes" so the fact that I haven't walked in over ten years,, I thought it would be fun to spoof it a little. If you can't laugh about your problems, then I may as well hang it up. However, now that I have had the two surgeries and pretty much recovered from Covid I got back into therapy yesterday and now they made my goal to walk in the Spring. Just like I say, the birds won't be the only ones who will sing. So that is why I will love love love my walking shoes. And finally I can admit that since the contest is over. I love these Circus Poems that Sally invented because it is kinda like going to the circus with a little of this and that going on all over the place. So I can do some free verse and mix in a little rhyme. I hope they catch on here with other poets. Anyway I thank you my dearest of my friends for such a lovely review and ALWAYS love your sweet anecdotes, and graciousness. They don't come any finer than you. Thanks for listening to my take on my poem and loving your review.

Yes, I have picked up hope as being the God led theme for today, from the many reviews I?ve engaged in today, and now I see why, if we only see desolation, that?s what we?ll have, but hope sees sunshine, flowers in verdant fields?and a healthy body in divine health, good onya Deb, you show ?em, love ya, God?s blessings, good health to you and your beautiful family. Congratulations :) As a fan of flat shoes, I can deeply relate with your poem. I have several pair of black sneakers, they are shockingly comfortable and can pass as more elegant type of shoes when needed.
Long live flat shoes :)

Good morning Debi,

Thank you for sharing your delightful ode to flat walking shoes. I am not a poet and would not begin to comment and the correct or proper way to write. I just like to enjoy and found it quite amusing... especially since my days of high heels, regardless of their style, have disappeared over the horizon and left me with my tired ole walking shoes.

Smiles and hugs, Carol

Well, this really is a different ode. Ode to flat walking shoes? I think we all have a special pair of shoes that we end up wearing holes in. Comfort is the key to special shoes. I must say this poem wasn't humorous. Different, but not funny. Well presented.

Thanks K for reviewing my poem. For those who understand the Circus Poems, and who took the time to see or remember Sally's, "I love high heel shoes", most did see the humor. And also saw that I was poking fun at her for that poem. It's in my author's notes. What is so much fun about it is it takes on the style of a circus because where there is something different going on throughout the arena. That's why there is free verse mixed with rhyme. And up until right now, I thought that having a little fun with this poem, would make it a little less scary because I have been crippled by my lupus and haven't walked for many years.. I have had two surgeries to hopefully walk again, but they are not sure. Laughter and writing is how I get through it.
It just feels better then having pity parties for myself. Thanks again my friend.

Lupus I am familiar with, my daughter has it. Not being able to walk also familiar with. I still like to have a nice pair of shoes (even tho' they don't walk)
Patience is one of the virtues, I would still like to walk. Substitute; swimming in warm water!

After living with this for 40 years, have had it destroy many of my organs and made my bones break so easily, sick with flares for days on end and have numerous replacements parts and been on my death bed three times and pulled through. I have learned every trick there is to try to feel better and if I have a pity party, I only invite Jesus. Because he won't let me stay long. Of everything I have learned, nothing is as beneficial as laughter and the feeling of love for people. There is nothing like it. I am so blessed.to have such wonderful friends and family. So thank you K. .

Ciao poet!

I have always been a tomboy , so no high heels , no fancy shoes just walking shoes similar to the ones in the pic.

I wear them all year round .. I can walk or run at a moment s notice.

The last pair lasted 5 years.

Only if there is snow do I put my rubber boots on.

I shudder when I read how many pairs of shoes some actresses have . Space and money wasted in my eyes.

All I need is a good pair of walking shoes and I'm good to go. ( biggrin)

A delightful read!

Awe, a woman after my own heart. I enjoyed your review and I used to walk for many miles everyday until lupus crippled me, However after 2 surgeries this Summer and much therapy I expect to be walking again by Spring. Because you mentioned snow I thought I would share that we just got our first snowfall today. So I am hibernating until Spring and will be singing and rejoicing with the birds. I live in MN so we get much here with minus thirty degrees by January. Yuck! Thank you my sweet friend for your lovely comments and I'm not sure if you read my notes, but this was also poking a little fun at Sally for her Circus Poem, "I love my high heel shoes." So thank you again for such a fun review. You made my night, dear friend!

I hope you make a full recovery by Spring.

    -30 sound so cold. I hope that?s F , we use Celsius.

MN ?? Minnesota?? I ll have to look that up on the map.

No I did not read your notes , I?ll go back and check

    Take care and keep warm!

Minnesota is the most Northern Middle of the country state. We even have many days in January where they call off school because windchill factors can even make it down to -80 F. That was back when my kids were little.. but now they have changed the windchill charts and it is no longer so drastic. Anyway, lol, now you know another reason why I will sing in the Soring.

It was quite humorous to read. I could visualise the flat shows on your feet matching every other piece of dress in their beauties. the flow of the ode was well paced and musical. But hei, I do not wish to have the upper bodies as flat as the shoes. Hahahaha! Well done, dear.

Esostine, you are so sweet! Thank you so very much for such kind and thoughtful comments. You truly made my evening.
And hey, I am not a very big woman, so having the twins a little smaller would be more proportioned.and comfortable. Haha!
Lol, I can't believe I just said that.. Lol! Thanks again my dear friend for your
    fun review.

Excellent entry for the Ode Poem writing prompt contest. Hahaha I like your good humor. Good form. I like the presentation and imagery. The font is very pretty but a little hard to read.

Thanks Gypsy. I'm glad you told me about it being a little hard to read. This was to poke a little fun at Sally for her Circus poem. "I love high heel shoes." And that is the font she uses, but for now on, I will try to find a font that is elegant w/o being hard to read. Thanks for your very lovely comments my sweet friend.
