Wow, I never tried roller skating and you make it sound so fun. Apparently, you were very good at it and brave, too, as spills did not deter you. Enjoyed your story of this fun and wholesome activity of childhood! Hope this does well in the contest!

Your poem is skillfully executed, and the artwork compliments the words in the writing. I remember skating when I was a child. We had to go to the skating pavilion because we lived in the country where everything was dirt. Best of luck in the contest.

Well done! I really enjoyed your rhyme, the flow of your poem and content. What a great childhood memory. Reading your poem was like a step back in time for me. I remember those skates and even Sonja Henie. I use to watch her in the old black and white movies. My favorite was called, I think, Sun Valley Serenade with John Payne ( handsome devil) and Milton Berle. Good luck in the contest.

This is a Childhood Writing Contest Entry rich in Theme and Imagery.
Everybody skated and the older we are the more we can remember the old metal skates with the key.
I had a set of weight female skates they're old and I think they were professional but of course they would never fit me but I do believe they were called "Roller derby"
...
I remember I wasn't very balanced when I first learned in the skating rink and as I was skating around I was losing bounce and I grabbed hold of this young woman and pulled her down I felt very embarrassed I think it was about maybe 18.
