So, whenever I see that people bring soda, from this day forth I shall assume that they botched their intended dish!
Cute story. I really enjoyed it. You have a talent for drawing a picture in one's mind. Nice work!

Thanks so much! My dad and I are bringing soda to Thanksgiving this year. Make of that what you will. LOL

LOL, what a hoot! Yep, I know the feeling. This is an excellent entry into this contest because it is different. Good luck. Some of the meatless products these days are pretty good, but this did sound awful. E for effort! Terry.

Thanks so much! It really was terrible

Nice writing. So well done it made me wretch!
I don't think that regular eggs would have made any difference. But thorough cooking might have. Guess we'll never know. lol
Good luck in the contest.

This story made me laugh :) I used to be a vegetarian for 5 years (I had to return to normal food due to health reasons). I remember all those 'vegetarian' meats, like vege-meatballs, vege-cutlets, vege-burgers.
Truth be told, traditional meat tastes better. Making a vege-burger etc. requires true kitchen skills. My vege-burgers tasted like celophane, even our dog did not want to eat them.

I stopped being a vegetarian because my hair started falling out. Lol. Thanks so much for reading and sharing, and for the six stars!

This was a fun read. Your text is a great size. Your story was humorous. The ingredients (soy crumbles) made me know that this contribution to the Thanksgiving dinner was a questionable choice. Thank you for sharing this good story.

Jessi, you had me laughing with this one! I was never a vegetarian, and it's too late for me to start now... I'm too in love with my beef! (Even though I try not to eat it very often) Not being overly impressed with the sight of such things already, I can't imagine what a complete failed meatloaf must have looked like... eeeek! LOL
Susan :)

I?m glad I could give you a laugh! It wasn?t funny at the time, but it?s pretty funny in retrospect. Thanks for the review

Lol. That's so funny. I am sure everyone has had some culinary disasters, but it is just as well yours was on a trial run, and not for the real meal. Best wishes for your contest entry.

This is a funny story. Young people often have cooking disasters. I had my share. It's a good thing you did a test run before taking a meatless loaf to your family and getting negative comments. Great story. Thanks for sharing.

Meatloaf can be tricky on the best of days. A lovely story and admirable courage to try out a veggie substitute.
-Great story, told in wonderful, matter of fact humour.
Thanks for sharing this culinary adventure.
A joy to read and review your story.

I enjoyed your non-fiction story. You have written a humorous account of your bravery in the culinary arts. I liked that you reported your efforts with the unvarnished truth. No doubt your aunt was the hero. However, you are the hero. Good luck.
