A heart-warming story full of the spirit of the season. I've read some of those horrible stories about those associations so it's nice to read one that ends happily, even if it's only fiction. May your holiday season be filled joy and laughter!

Faith, thank you for reading my story. It did have some truth to it. And the lights are burning brightly. Terry.

Loved this story, but it brought back memories of a home owners association I dealt with at one time. I have never figured out why someone else has control over property that I own. You did a great job. Shirley

Hooray for the old guy for standing up to the goose-stepping Nazi homeowners association full of Scrooges and Grinches!
I got a letter from our association telling me to trim the dead fronds of my date palm, which I did. I then noticed that my neighbor's date palm had many dead fronds hanging down. To be antagonistic, I called the association to ask why my neighbor could have dead fronds on his date palm, but I got a letter... I was told that the neighbor did get a letter.
"So, what are you going to do to him for not complying?"
"There's nothing we can do."
"Guess what I'm going to do next time I get a letter from you?"

Thomas. LOL, what a hoot of story you got there! Thank you for the six stars. Good luck with those nasty fronds! Terry.

This is such a sweet, touching story capturing the spirit of the holidays and capturing what it means to be human. All too often we are caught up in "what's right" instead of "what feels right."

P.S. In my opinion, the best fiction has the greatest truth. :)

Sherry, thank you for reading my story. I do think humor and fiction need a little truth. Terry.

Nice story.

Catch:

"I always turn my Christmas lights on Thanksgiving night. Hopefully, after the Dallas Cowboys win a football game. I turn the lights off and take them down on New Year's Day.
(Missing the end ")

Very good. Funny.

Douglas, thank you for reading. I didn't close out the quotes because the same speaker is still speaking. I closed it out when Mr. Bowman stops speaking. Terry.

LOL, you are a whole lot brighter than me, I had to learn that from Susan Newell after messing it up several times. Terry.

What a touching story Terry. I was hoping it ended the way it should, but one never knows in this life and in your story endings. I hope you too display something festive in your home. Zoe would not have a bare home at Christmas. At least that's what I think from your descriptions of how she entertained. Each year I say, I am doing nothing, but I end up sitting 40 of my 100 or more trees from my Christmas tree collection out. This year I may sit out 20 of my favorite ones. Tis' the season to be jolly, whether we are jolly or not. I guess I will play along in some small manner until I'm called to my heavenly home.
Blessings to you this Christmas and all the best in 2023.

Sandy, thank you for the review. Your review is a story in itself, who knew you could write prose! Merry Christmas. Terry.

They both start with "P" so why not. I can do it, but I find it more tedious than poetry writing. Your stories are always well written. It's just the endings that make me go bonkers! I never know what you will do. Have a Merry🌲 Christmas Texas Terry~ your new moniker-.💥Tand T 💥.

There is always room in life for humility, understanding and acceptance of differences, careful listening to others, and above all compassion. You write it so well and are a shining example. I'm sorry for the five, bla bla, bla but you know the problem. We are beyond that, I hope. K

Mr. Bowman better be glad it wasn't Karen who approached him about those Christmas lights. The police would have been called, the building manager would have descended on the place, and the late Mrs. Bowman would have known exactly where Mr. Bowman was--in jail. LOL!

P.S. Karen, for those who don't watch youtube, is a symbol for a busybody who always finds some reason to spoil people's day.
