Amen, amen again I say amen, and agree with the overall theme but sensibly. Creating electric cars isn't so smart. They cost more, and are manufactured off the grid with lithium batteries we have no place to put after they run their course and child labor is deeply involved.

Thank you Tom. There are no simple solutions, unfortunately, and there is a price to be paid for inventions which met our "needs".

Comment from Wayne Fowler
I like it.
Fabulous sentiment.
Good rhyming and imagery.
Of course it's the coal plants and methane emissions that will make the difference, but if people will first buy in to the need, then maybe...
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you Wayne, for your review and your good wishes. Hopefully, the voice of individuals will be listened to and heard if we act together, and these big polluters are compelled to find alternative methods and systems to reduce pollution.

Unfortunately, it comes down to politics.
Comment from Pam Lonsdale
Small actions help in that they curb future pollution, but it's only the big actions now that will save us. Both of my children have elected to not have children, and they both site the environment as the main reason. It breaks my heart, but I can honestly understand - not sure that I would in this day and age because they are going to be dealing with things we never had to deal with and way more often. I also think there is a food and water shortage coming, possibly in my lifetime.
I'm really starting the day on a negative note, but I'm very pessimistic about our future and our will to change it.

I can understand your children's thinking, and it is very sad that we have degraded our planet to such a point. Drastic action is definitely needed and the will to act starts with individuals and their patterns of behaviour, and banding together to encourage big companies to be responsible for wiser choices.

Love you obvious passion for the earth and promoting sustainable living! Rhyming was strong but some lines need reworking in rhythm and meter. Great topic to write on though and clear ideas.

Comment from Katherine M. (k-11)
This is a good concise summary of many of the issues that should have been addressed years ago. I suppose it's never too late, but I must admit I have fought all my life, and for me the last straw was seeing the latest rocket heading off to the moon a few days ago. At the moment I am preoccuppied more with injustice and corruption (although in my private life I still practice conservation). Kate xx

I fully agree about injustice and corruption as well. There is or should be no place for them, and yet people justify their actions, and refuse to acknowledge the wrongs they inflict. And that really is an extension of the selfish attitude which has led to the degradation of our planet.

Comment from Jesse James Doty
Becoming aware of our choices when we act either for or against the environment is no laughing matter. It takes awareness and fortitude to show how we care by choosing paper instead of plastic and when we need plastic bottles use the renewable kind. It is so simple yet profound in its actions. Please, let us let Earth alone and give back to her every day.

Comment from Dolly'sPoems
A wonderful write or encourage us all to be greener in our daily lives. I hate waste and love recycling things, from furniture to clothing, I love to 'make do and mend'. My Mother would make amazing things out of nothing and I followed in her footsteps. New things have little value these days anyway. We live in a throw away world Wendy. Waste products are a big problem these days, I adored the sentiment, the rhymes and the meaning behind these words, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly for your super review. Yes, I like to recycle or upcycle wherever possible.
