Doing the deed is many things, but it's rarely as casual as putting your socks on; however, that's where it ranks in the hierarchy of experience for this narrator. Well - actually, when people mention doing the deed, it usually springs from a desire not to indulge in details, and that would be a good subject for a short poem in itself; it could go somewhere a couple of degrees off the chart, and avoid the clever but predictable package that this poem is.
