I thought what I was reading would be alphabetized throughout, but I was mistaken. Still, your words are words to live by. They are all familiar. I recall many from catechism, Sunday school and orator's words. Yet, the world twirls 'round the universe as if they were never spoken.

i chose to group items by topic rather than alphabetized though that would work too and I may revise it according. I have a longer poem that I will break down into three parts but not post so I can submit it freely

So many lines of this were brilliant. But I'm sorry, you diluted them with redundancies or irrelivancies, driving your audience away. I hope you have the wisdom and the time to prune your poem to showcase the pearls of wisdom. Kate xx

revised per you and other's excellent suggestions. Did you finish NaMoWriMo? I did but my story, "The Life and Times of Big Daddy is a real mess of a first draft.

    If you have been around

    As much as I have

    67 journeys around the sun.

    Life has taught

    You a lot of lessons

This is what I have learned.

    Apologize for your misdeeds

    Avoid negative people

    Believe in yourself

    Be kind to everyone

    Be optimistic

    Don?t be cruel

    Don?t be afraid of failure

    Learn from your mistakes

    And the mistakes of others.

    Do not engage in violence,

Either real violence, or violent rhetoric

Don?t do or say stupid stuff

    Don?t be Judgmental

    Follow your dreams

    Learn something new every day

    Love your friends

    Love your spouse

    Tell her every day

    How much you love her

And how special she is to you.

    Live in the present

    The past is the past

The future is yet to come

    And is unknowable.

    Practice a daily act

    Of random kindness.

    Practice the yoga of speech

Before speaking, think of three things

Is it true, is it kind

And is it necessary to be said.

It is not true, not kind

And does not need to be said,

    don't say it.

    Remember YOLO

    You are only live once.

    Remember what Bugs Bunny said,

    "Relax Doc,

None of us get out of life alive".

    In the end

    Just be thankful

    You are still alive

    And kicking.

Very nice. Yes I finished 50308 words at 16h15. I didn't even know you were doing it. Why didn't you say? I tell everyone, especially in advance... then the fear of failing is greater than the pain of doing. My draft is also a huge mess, but that okay I have been told many times. Anyway huge congratulations on the achievement. Are you going to try out for the next step? Kate xx

You have some excellent advice for all of us who are still kicking, as you put it. I have a few more trips around the planet than you have, at seventy-six. I wish you tons of luck in the contest.
