I really enjoy these animal fables! They remind me of Aesop and others.
They are in a way similar to the parables of the New Testament -very good teaching vehicle for all ages!

Oh, the smaller ones got swallowed by the snake, and Too-dey-yoo-die kills the snake and forgets all about his cousins! Sounds about normal for most families!! LOL. I enjoyed your version of the Billy Goats Gruff. You might be able to sell this as a sort of sequel!! Lol. I enjoyed this, Bill. Well done. Sandra xx

I thought it sounded familiar! I'd forgotten that the shrew was even an animal in the first place. I thought her name was Kate and she was part of a Shakespearean play. ;)
This is a fun adaptation of that Aesop's fable.

Thanks, Susan. I was ready to just go with just rats, but I so wanted that capybara.

This is a very amusing fairy tale, but then the Three Billy Goats Gruff wasn't all sweetness and light either. You picked interesting cousins and had them offer the next one up (like in the three goats) but the snake had other plans. Now all three of them are toe jam. Well-written and edited.

This was interesting like an Aesops fable.
Richly created and crafted.
Love the toe jam part and added a lesson.

I'm going to skip buying your children's story book for my grandchildren. I'm still tramatized over have learned Jack killed the giant and the woodchopper chopped up the wolf. I'll just have the kids watch the news if they're hankering for violence.

Do you know the Muffin Man? He was an 18th century serial killer.
reply by BethShelby on 04-Dec-2022
:Yes I heard that delightful song was inspired by a real serial killer. I also heard ring around rosy was about small pox. Those writers has a sick
sense of humor or maybe they hated kids.

Your story was well told though gruesome, Bill.
I understand it was satire and a retelling of the
original. I would've loved for the capybara to have
run across the water--they can and do walk on the top
of the water.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

You're a good story-teller. The flow of your story was excellent. I saw no need for corrections. I understood the moral to be everyone fend for themselves with the winner takes all and enjoying the present with no thoughts of the past.

A very creative version of the three billy goats gruff story with an unexpected ending ! I think the capybara should have done surgery on the snake with his toenail and retrieved his cousins. I don't know if that would make it PG but then again, I could never understand how the woodsman was able to get Grandma out alive from the Big Bad Wolf ...

I needed to make this more mine than the Norwegians'.

😊 It's definitely more yours and maybe more realistic that the capybara forgets his cousins...
