I think there are probably a few that face many challenges in life, I have been here for a number of years now, and there's been some tragedies, a number of brilliant writers have been lost to life. I think losing one's partner in life is among the worst, the worst is probably, the loss of a child, I can't imagine the pain, well done, wilting to honour others is a noble pursuit Terry. Well, I knew this was 6 before I even read it -- you have a knack for listening and for 'book-casing' what you have heard. A word, a sentence an event, whatever you pick up not only on the 'real' of everything, but also the 'feel' and the 'emotion' involved. That probably doesn't make much sense and I'm not sure 'book-casing' is a word!! lol. Well, my life has not made much 'sense' either, but, wow, what a ride - you managed to express that ride very well in you story.
