Woah, Rachelle!
Not certain how I missed this very creative - yet hauntingly real - offering.
I write, "hauntingly real," as one of my dearest friends unexpectedly died from a brain aneurysm, and her husband left her voice/greeting on their phone's answering service for a number of years... No... not for me!

Thank you for sharing!

Oh, wow, this one's vintage! Sorry it struck a nerve, though. That had to be tough for you, continuing to hear her message. Oy. Thanks for bestowing the extra star. xo

I was spending a relaxing evening reading through some of your older stuff and I saw with great disbelief that this piece had no six star rating. So, I am awarding it my much coveted late night Saturday Six Star. Tomorrow morning FS will be abuzz with six star ratings flying to and fro, but not tonight. No tonight, everyone is empty.

So, I have righted this injustice and rebalanced the writing world. Much like a super hero (in my mind) my work here is done (now, just picture me fading into the shadows as this review ends.).

Hope you smiled.

Hmmm. Pretty sure I'd leave a similar message. I mean, of course, I'd want my husband to be happy...with a dog, or a cat...or even a sports car! I'm not warming up to the idea of him replacing me with a real live other- woman. After all, he's had the best, what's the point!?

LOL

I enjoyed reading this "last call" post. The haunting part was so funny! Thank you so much for sharing this short piece here, and best wishes to you.

Short and sweet ... oh yeah, that was one rule, one hundred words, wasn't it. You've done well, my FanStory friend. Keep on truckin' forward. ..............................

well, that is weird. The perky little wife didnt give a reason for killing herself.
What did the poor slob do? If I were he, I'd delete it forthwith and count myself lucky.
However, that's a cute idea, with a quirky font, but I think your fun in writing it got away from your plot. You can still fix it if you want.

Where do you get the 'killing herself' part? If you read the prompt, it says you've just died of a heart attack + G_d gives you one final phone call. (Get it? Last. Call?) So that's the premise, and my writing didn't "get away from me" and I don't need to fix it. Sheesh! Read the gist of a contest before you review.

    you're right. I apologize.

I'm sorry, too. I was cranky when I wrote this. I should have been way more gracious.

Oh what a final call. So loving and sweet. I believe you must be Italian because after the lovey-dovey crap the fangs came out :

I will haunt you, blood-running-down-the-walls style. Count on it.

I loved it,

Cheers, John

This is hilarious! You started out with the devoted wife who loves forever and then reassured the hubby about the pain-free state of death, then end with a threat about dating another woman! Love is forever, right?
Best wishes in the contest!

Hello Rachelle,
This is the first time I've seen this. I'm following you, but it didn't show up on my notifications for some reason. This has happened with several people I'm following. I really don't understand how some of this stuff works. In any event, this was great. On the one hand, I guess I'm glad I'm not your husband. I wouldn't want to be haunted. Also, your last words of love would make it hard for me to date another woman without feelings of extreme guilt. Fortunately, I'm getting so old, I probably wouldn't have to worry about it- unless of course I moved to a place like the Villages. I think there's lots of widows there looking for Mr. Right. Good luck with that.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Thank you, Tom. Hmm, guilt and fear all in one voice mail; my job as a Jewish wife is complete!

I love this review very much.

Your last call is fun to listen to. Hubby will be delighted to know (1) you love him and think he was the perfect fit and (2) Heaven is a delightful place. One wonders if you are joking about haunting him relentlessly if he dates. Rod
