Good work. Nicely written. Good progress.
Might make a comment that Miranda salvaged the (expensive) deck materials from an abandoned trailer.
Best wishes.

It looks like Mitch is sweet on Miranda, but she appeals to me, she would sit nicely with any mature man, a good character, and the boys need dad, and the fact she takes on the responsibility of Waylon, and perhaps even Waylon, proves the character of her. Well done Gretchen, blessings Roy

Well, I'd like to argue with you, and I'm damn sure not going to admit still being a boy at heart, but then I hear that song playing in my head . . . never grow up, never grow up, never grow up. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Women are little girls at heart but just hide it better. Lol. Thanks so much, Ric. Gretchen

I've always been one of the lucky guys that were trusted with their secrets. LOL. I guess, that means I was harmless.

Isn't that the truth. I swear the older I get the younger the men in my life get. LOL Miranda did handle herself like a pro during the attack. It sounds like a little Romance might be in Miranda and Mitches future. It's always nice to have a friend on the police force. I think the comment about redneck mischief was make just to calm Miranda. Well done, Gretchen, my friend. Nancy:)

This was a great chapter. Maybe it would be good for Mitch and Miranda to get together. I was not sure if he was married or similar? Loved this... "He came out of his mother bitching about something."

Ah-ha! You leave us with Miranda softening toward Mitch ... even inviting him inside her trailer. I noted a couple of things as I read:

They blew through the door. Then they started driving closer. [This image confuses me a tad. To blow through the door, sounds to me like they rammed it with their car ... but that couldn't be, because they then tried to drive closer.]

His words do little to disarm me [I'd like to know what you mean by this.]

I love your dialogue. Between Aaron and Mitch ... and afterward between Mitch and Miranda. You do so much with character development solely through dialogue.]

Good pace throughout, Gretchen. The calm after the storm, but we know Miranda's problems aren't over yet.

Jay

I get what you're saying about blowing through the door. I will definitely change that. The disarming comment meant it didn't diffuse her anger. Shit, I could have just said that. Lol. Thanks for this nice review. Gretchen

Another good read. Miranda is both strong and smart , but at the same time vulnerable, so we can relate to her. Excellent dialogue, and it was good to see the other side of Mitch. Looking forward to the next.

That's cute that Mitch and Aaron and Waylon are all play ball together. I wonder why Missy is calling. She probably knows that Miranda was shot at. Great dialogue with witty quips. The only one that surprised me was Aaron saying "Thats a very astute observation, Officer." (That's)
But mellow Aaron didn't sound like someone who would say that. But Mitch's retort was perfect.
Typo:
Mitch says, coming to stsnd by me.

I think Aaron is a tiny bit jealous and might have been showing off for Waylon. It's those mellow and quiet ones that'll surprise you. Thanks so much for your kind review. Gretchen

I loved it, Gretchen! Your talent for dialogue is super impressive. I loved the porch scene. He looks up at the sky. "You do this often?" Natural, with a little touch of romance. I feel love in the air, lol. Great stuff! Best, JohnC

Thank you, John. I'm so glad you can appreciate the smaller nuances of the characters. Those little things, in my humble opinion, bring a character to life. I really appreciate your review and value your comments. Gretchen

This was a great chapter, Gretchen. Though Miranda tried to hide
her feelings, Mitch could see right through her. I liked how Mitch
seemed to show his feelings towards Miranda more openly.
Also, the lines about being off duty were great and some hilarious.
I got the feeling Miranda wished He'd come into her home. She
seemed to feel more about him as he did for her. The nerf football
was fun and Miranda's comments about boy and their toys was perfect.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you so much. I'm glad you picked up on the boys and their toys thing. Miranda sees most men as children because she's never had a "real" man before. Maybe Mitch will pan out. Gretchen
