I like that you chose to express your thoughts in a voice mail. One feels your doubts, your pain, your loneliness but also your love that perhaps you were not able to express. Mom would be glad to hear your voice. Thanks for sharing.

Thank You for your comment. I thought the voice mail would be an interesting touch. It would also give the reader room to come up with their own reasons to why she didn't respond. Love not being expressed until it's too late which happened in this case. I appreciate your review. I am glad that you enjoyed it.

Well this is an interesting last call. It seems like poetry, but the rhyme scheme isn't the same for each stanza, so maybe not. I do think, for such a call, the last stanza may ease the mother's pain, but perhaps not the first two.

Good luck in the contest booth.

Thank You for your comment. I tried to break it up into 3 parts. At least that was the idea. First being his life before his fate. Being busy and not calling as often as he should. Second portion was more to try to hide all of the emotions and how hiding pain grew to madness. The last stanza is apologizing for everything. Saying sorry and pretty much say goodbye. Thank you for enjoying the poem and taking the time to read & comment. I appreciate it.
