Oh my my my this is terribly sad. I am so very sorry for your family's terrible loss. I am glad that they have decided to celebrate the life lived and not dwell in mourning the loss.

The absolute worst part of humanity is death.

Thank you for sharing such a sensitive story. Bless you!

Hi Debi,
I'm so very sorry for your losses. They're hard enough to handle on their own, but during the holiday season is even worse.
Travis sounds like a really special kid. It's awesome that his organs were donated. So many can benefit from that.
This is a lovely poem
Susan :)

A verse, filled with sadness and with hope. I don't imagine that this was easy to write, but within your words, there is a message of hope for those left behind and perhaps also the gift of courage. Well done. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Gina, I do appreciate your kind words so very much. Since you gave me four stars, I truly would like to know what you thought was wrong with my poem. Or what I could change to make it better. This is my style of writing and have gotten where I am because people like it, so whenever I get a four, I just need to know so I can expand on the corrections that my reviewer thinks I should have changed. Thank you my friend.

I am new to reviewing, so I don't always know how to articulate what could be better (I am learning too), but it is the last two lines that did not have the same flow for me, and yet they were so powerful. I do not assume to know how to rework it, if that is even necessary, as it is only my opinion. You write beautifully, and your words are filled with love, which the world needs more of. Best wishes.

Debi,

The loss of a young life is a tragedy in every situation, but hardest on the ones who really know the individual. Such losses leave permanent wounds. I am so sorry for your family's losses. I didn't understand your last lines until I read your notes. Travis is living on through others.

Losing any one is devastating but losing a child has no words. I know because I lost two. As you said, we survive and try to move forward. I believe that Travis's gifts give a wonderful meaning to his short life and those who received are blessed. Thank you for sharing your story.

Hugs, Carol

This one was difficult for me to read and then I realized that hope is the gift of Christmas. Jesus gave the world himself and the hope of everlasting life for all who would believe and receive. What precious lives were represented here and gifts given by way of organs. I am an organ donor too. It's on my Florida ID card now since I don't drive anymore.

Your loss is great, my friend, but gains eternal and blessings multiplied in abundance. Please accept my condolences in your collective losses. Prayers of comfort for you now as your revisit this in your memory.

Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest,
Love, Sal XOs

What a wonderful story that must deliver great pride to the family of Travis. Your poem is a tribute to a young man who died too young. I felt your sadness but also your pride. My sympathy to you for your loss but more importantly praise for such a great poem.

This is very very tragic Debbie .I am sorry that you have lost your brother and his son.this and I was thinking of your sister in law also.what a terrible thing to happen to someone.
At least some consolation when his organs have helped others and he is living through them.

A sad story of a futile loss of life, a poor boy who had hardly started out in life and taken too soon, I am sorry for your loss Debi and your endearing story in a poem is touching. Love Dolly x

What a dreadful and terrible time of grief. But what beautiful actions have resulted from his kindness and generosity: organs donated and a bonus for others who are facing their own difficulties. Beautifully written and a very meaningful entry for the contest. Best wishes.
