I'm so sorry for your loss, Debi. I also lost my kid sister four years ago so I can relate. But losing your nephew as well... that's too much.
Sending lots of hugs.
Thanks for sharing this with us. I hope writing about it has helped a tiny bit.

Thank you Heather, for the very compassionate comments. I appreciate them very much. This was a hard one for me to write. But I entered Terry's contest, not knowing what my Christmas Bonus could be, and after I prayed, as I so often do before I write, God reminded me of this Christmas Bonus, where Travis's death saved three lives. So can I ask if this was obvious that his was the bonus? The organ donation to help three others live? I never come right out and say I it, but was hoping it was
obvious. Thanks again my wonderful friend.

    Hi again Debi,
Yes, it was obvious. It won't make your pain disappear, but at least now you know he didn't die in vain.
My sister also donated her organs. x

This is in many respects a tragic poem about unbelievable loss. The poet expresses this with great honesty and bravery. However, the poem ends on a note of hope as her nephew's organs give others hope of life!

Sarah, this even feels unbelievable to us. I actually wrote about this once before in a 5-7-5 poem a while ago and I think it too is called Travis. But yes, almost unbearable as this boy was such a wonderful kid. And was good to everyone and never said a bad word about anyone. I miss him and my brother very much. Thank you for your compassion and getting that he gave of himself on his drivers license saying that he was an organ donor. We are proud of him.

I can't think how I would deal with such a tragedy.

This is so sad, Debi! But I appreciate you sharing this tragic story because in it, you still share about the Hope we have in Jesus Whose birth we celebrate on Christmas. Just as I wait for a funeral this Christmas. But we know our Hope is in Jesus Who conquered death for us.
Best wishes in the contest!
