Really loved this revelation and deep thoughts about all the hurts in the world that we are not aware of. There are a lot of hurting people around us that we may not know. This poem calls us to make more of an effort to open our eyes to the needs of others, even if just to say a prayer for them. I loved "a morning yawn inhales a world."

Thank you, Helen. Things get dark sometimes.
Comment from Shirley E Kennedy
Wow! Sometimes the dark side is closer than we think.
I saw a deep message in your poem which shows how disconnected
people all around the world are from one another.
Sadly, the scenarios you show are happening all around the world right now.

Bill, This beautiful poem shows a side of you, I have rarely seen. It makes me rather sad, because it shows how sad and bad our world has become of late.
However, being the optimist I am, I do hope the good will prevail and we will see new light at the end of the tunnel. A cliche, I know, but all the same ...
All best, Ulla:)))

Thanks, Ulla. It was a sad day.

Yes, I can see that.
Comment from June Sargent
Sadness permeates the world around us and it's hard not to let these feelings seep into our hearts. We feel helpless when we see people suffer and we can't fix their lives for them. However, the sun will always rise and the new day can bring hope. The day we stop feeling is the day we have lost all hope. Empathy is good.

Amazing, Bill, and surely food for thought. Your lines point out how we live in our private world unaware of the fear and despair of those around us.

Is that you Bill? This is so unlike you. However, it shows another side of you in this serious, beautifully written poem filled with empathy for others. We often live our lives unaware of the pain of others around us.
Best wishes,
Mary

Hi, Mary. Yes, I try to stay on the lighter side, but this one was on my mind yesterday. Thanks for giving it a look.

Hi Bill,
This poem is totally opposite of the feeling this season should inspire. But,
it is true that these sad things happen and we only wish they could find someone or something to give them the strength to get through their problems to a better life.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Happy Holidays.

Had a bad morning and had to siphon it off.

Poetry is a great way to do that.

Yes, Bill, you wake, but your brain remembers the dream.
You did a great job with this presentation--the color scheme
worked well and the scattered rhyme scheme. Your words were
descriptive and sad. It does seem many people close themselves
off to others, to the world for unknown reasons. Many times when
the truth comes out, it's too late to help.

This is tremendous! Beautifully done and well worded. So true that we don't think about the things that are going on around us, so many tragedies. We don't often think of the problems going on in the world. With sunrise, the bad dreams may go away, but the problems still exist. The narrator seems snug in his own little world. Wish I had a six left for this. judi

A poem so filled with empathy for all the unseen pain that surrounds us. Not sure if this was your intention, but it serves as a wake-up call to be more compassionate in an imperfect world. A great piece of writing. Thanks for sharing.
