Warm water! I completely forgot about that one until I read this. I'll try that. I have been struggling with this jar of bread and butter pickles for almost two weeks. I tried the rubber grippy thing. I even tried hitting the lid on the countertop edge a few times, like my mom used to do. But warm water! I will try that tomorrow.

Well, that is absolutely wonderful!
Not that you missed your prime, but the whole funny thing. I love the pickle jar part. In fact, I love the whole thing. Very clever and humorous, and if you didn't intend humor, I apologize. :)
Congratulations on ALL Time Best. It surely is!

PS, Now that you've brought it up, I'm wonderin' when mine was. AND I bet there are others out there wonderin' the same thing.

That was quite the wandering essay on the current meanings of prime that might come to mind if asked. I can't remember prime anymore, as I not only passed it, I think I stepped on it as I did.

This is funny and resonates to myself and probably anyone past nearing or afraid of reaching their Prime!! I enjoyed your witty writing style and perspective! I meant to be over the hill but I'm choosing to think I'm in greener pastures and pushing off my prime line as long as possible!!

I read and reviewed your Lena Horne piece which I greatly admired. This story however seems to be a departure from your style. What made you decide to go in this direction?

Sparkling in this story:
-Sections of humour and clever detail
-Beautiful picture accompanies your writing
-To add to your ongoing list of Prima words, that other reviewers have already contributed to, for example, words like prime numbers, prime rib etc, here are a few more: Prima Donna, Prima Facie, Pasta Primavera.
And, as a movie buff, I am going to go see that movie you mentioned. Thank you. All the best.

We may not be in our prime Terry but we expect excellence in our reading matter and our visuals and we never stop wanting the best out of life. Maggie Smith is such a favourite, she is a darling and that film is magical, I am so glad she had a mention here. I would avoid Amazon Prime like the plague, it is a complete waste of money! Ha ha ha, an inventive write, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

A nice bit of easy reading for a Friday, thanks for reminding me how far beyond my prime I am - but $12 for grapes!!? I will never complain about the cost of my shopping again. Should have been $13 - that's a prime number.
It's not just pickle jars either - I have trouble opening the boxes of the many tablets I have to take every day to keep going.
Have a great holiday season.

I don't think I ever had a prime in all the applications at one time. Maybe that is expecting too much. Maybe the fact that we just keep plugging along is a prime as so many we know and love already dropped out of the race.

How di'=d I miss this post!!! It is super, but I must point out, Terry, that 'in one's prime is a state of mind'. In my humble opinion you are in your prime in so many ways. One's prime comes in physical, mental, emotional, physcological terms. It also comes in wisdom, in knowing what life is really about, confidence, in not giving a care about paying $12 for grapes, for realizing we only have this very minute -- nothing else is promised. Again, there are many primes of life and today you are likely in ony of those.
I love your post. I love humor. I found a lot of things in the post to make me smile and to make me think. Geez! Terry, you may be in your prime of story-writing. lol Thanks for sharing your thoughts and creating a bright spot in my day. ann
