What a beautiful tree and touching story you have shared with the reader. Decorating the tree with tiny memories and keepsakes makes the season feel as if those we love and may have lost are there with us in some small way. Thank you for sharing!

I don't know enough about poetry to know if this will work for the contest you've entered it in, but I can certainly relate to the ornaments having special memories - we have so many that our children either made, or were bought for the children. Our "children" are in their 30s now, but seeing those ornaments brings back so many memories.

I don't know enough about poetry to know if this will work for the contest you've entered it in, but I can certainly relate to the ornaments having special memories - we have so many that our children either made, or were bought for the children. Our "children" are in their 30s now, but seeing those ornaments brings back so many memories.

I always loved the smell...I would vacuum up
all the pine needles...and smell them whenever
I would vacuum in mouths to come...
sad thing is...I developed an allergy to them
about 20 years ago...sigh...
but I still always have a tree...and hundreds of
ornaments from years ago...my favorite holiday...
the birth of Jesus Christ...

Thank you Linda for your delightful review. I always had a real tree growing up and remember the amazing fragrance but?. I married a guy with allergies so now it?s artificial but ?. I still love to decorate it every year.

I went for Christmas at my daughters
house one year...they always had a real
tree...but because of my allergies they
got an artificial one...
she has never gone back to a real tree...
she said she loves her artificial one...

We have had the same artificial tree for over 25 years. Purchased from Sears it has the perfect shape. Although only a handful of pre attached white lights work we do not see any for sale in the stores that would top ours. So I circle the tree with strands of white lights every year. This way the ornaments collected from the past 43 years of marriage with three children and five grandchildren have a place to shine every Christmas.

Thank you John for this sweet review. Our tree lights quite working several years ago so we too add strings of lights each year and decorate with all our favorites ornament that mean so much.
