Thank you for writing the next part. This text has some additional layers in it. The Rome events provide background for Joy's story. The works of art you mention seem symbolic. Everything starts in Rome.

This trip had to be awe inspiring and I'm sure it was. I was in awe reading about it. LOL I'm sure you enjoyed every minute of the trip. I for one have never had a wondering mind or foot, completely happy to be at home. Well done, Beth. I can enjoy Rome through your eyes. Nancy:)

Thank you Nancy. It was an awe inspiring trips. I have to admit I wanted to travel back then. My husband was more the home body, but since he'd been to South Korea and Japan in service and worked in the states I'd never been like Montana, he had the desire to see the world out of his system. My family never went anywhere when I was young.

Memories, memories...there's nothing like it to make us new and alive again. I remember I reviewed one of your "memoires", and I was very impressed. It's a great idea to leave a testimony of your wonderful life for your kids to cherish.
Keep it up!
Mario

Your trip sounds interesting. Poor Joy. Jumps from the frying pan into the skillet. Yes. Angelo is all over the Vatican, I would assume. Wine is like water flowing.
Good one Beth. So you guys picked up a New Orleans friend.

Thank you Chuck. Joy made so bad choices. I would never have swapped my life for hers. Our friend we made on the trip remained our freind after it was over. Joy traveled with her again several times. She also visited me here in Chattanooga. Thank you for the many stars.

I was with you on this adventure Beth and you are brave to break out and go travelling. We broaden our horizons when we travel and see how other people live, our experiences are all we have left when we are old and reflect on life, I enjoyed yours here, love Dolly x

I think we all have friends whom we have so much in common with while we're young, then go off in completely different directions as adults. Your friend, Joy, had a few rough patches, for sure. There's something to be said for a quiet, uneventful life, isn't there?

I would love to see the Sistine Chapel - what a beautiful sight that must be, and you describe everything you saw so that we can see it too.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful story of your trip.

End of second paragraph: We both WERE (instead of where) taking the same correspondence . . .

Busses is spelled BUSES

I believe Sistine Chapel is capitalized (you have small c in chapel), as both words make up the noun

Francis became our companion and CHOSE to be with Joy and I . . . (you have choose)

I enjoyed this chapter as it spent its time in Rome, which is one place my wife wants to go. I want to go to Italy to just relax in the country, take walks along cobblestone streets and eat, and eat and eat done more.

Your descriptions of Rome were written in an encompassing, enjoyable manner.

Thank you, John. You need to take your wife on that trip. There will be some wonderful places to relax for you as well. The food is outstanding.

We all got off the bus at the Spanish Steps and some of the group climbed to the top and visited the church there.

We all got off the bus again and walked around

Maybe a shift in words so it doesn't appear to be a duplicate.

What a joy to experience Rome through your eyes and to sense the thrill, awe and joy you felt as well. Thank you for sharing.

Hugs, Carol
