I remember this fire so well. It was horrible to see the pictures. The animals had no place to go so they died in the brush fire. Can you imagine the screeching noise and the sorrow people felt while the animals were dying?

Thank you very much Rosemary! It was horrifying, and unforgettable. Difficult to watch the news for those months, with being upset for them.

I have say in you 5-7-5 words, the raw emotion of horror of the death of the animals can be felt.

Both verse and artwork paired nicely for this contest entry in my favored poem format.

The tragedy of these natural disasters affect the environment and cause deaths of the human species too.

Your middle line was very strong.

I appreciate your author note info.

This 5-7-5, Fires from Hell, has the proper formatting and reminds the readers of that giant fire sweeping across Australia recently. Horrors for sure.

This is a good entry into the 5-7-5 poem contest. The text is a great size. The message is clearly stated. Bush fires are tragic events for animals and mankind and is happening more often. The visual fits perfectly. Good luck in the contest.

I can't imagine what it is like, spontaneous fires striking, such destruction to property and lives. Your poem captures the moments well. I feel your words. The picture adds to your words, together they are awsome.

Yes, that was such a horrific death for those sixteen billion animals. I can't even begin to fathom. Then that pandemic stopped the efforts of the international teams of volunteers. Well expressed poem!
Best wishes in the contest!

Oh, I remember reading and watching the news about the devastation -- I even wrote about it and encouraged donations and acts of kindness, like putting out water for the animals escaping the fires (on Facebook). Poor creatures! It was heartbreaking!
And then Canada experienced some similar bushfires, one wiping out an entire town. Horrible! This is a most powerful 5-7-5.

Thank you so much Dawn. How very caring and compassionate! Yes, we lost a couple of townships as well. It was a dreadful time. Animal rescue did an amazing job and so did thousands of volunteers, but only a small proportion could be saved.

Your poem is very graphic in its descriptive power. As an Aussie myself, although I am living in another country, those terrible bushfires always strike at my heart when people and animals suffer.
(The only compensation is that we get beautiful sunsets from the smoke haze that comes across to NZ when it is happening.)
