Yes, I can see why you won the feelings contest. The thoughts and emotions expressed in this poem are full-fledged emotions that sink to the core of what it feels like to be upset at the distress of others.
Thank you for sharing how you deal with your distress at the abuse of others, especially animals who have no voice of their own.

Thank you again Jesse for you thoughtful review. Yes, very distressing to see cruelty or unkindness to any who are vulnerable, including animals. I appreciate your review.

Congratulations on your contest win. You need one more for recognized; this is it. You have summed up the world today. I ask god when I pray, surely the good will prevail. Nasty world, just no fun. Lawless and getting worse. Remember the young police murdered for nothing. Bless you, K xx

Thank you so much Kay. You are so lovely. That was a horrifying example of injustice. That sort of thing plus cruelty to children and animals are what upset me the most.

I fully understand where you are coming from. There is so much injustice in the world today. Child abuse, elderly abuse, animal cruelty, racism, bullying. When will it end? There is a price to pay - count on it. Meanwhile, it breaks my heart as it does yours.

Congratulations, on your winning entry. The text is a great size. The message is clearly stated. Few would disagree with your sentiments. The more powerful since the beginning of time have preyed on the weaker or perceived weaker ones in society. The visual fits well. Well-done!

Your poem reads well, is smooth, and reflects my own heart. I pray everyday for these people I don't know. I can't imagine their pain. I also pray the abusers change their ways and develop compassion. Hurt people hurt.

Thank you so much. You have understood perfectly. We just each do what we can, and hope for a ripple effect.
Comment from Bill Schott
This poem, Distress at Injustice, reminds the readers of the daily evidence of cruelty and poverty across the globe and nearby, that in its immensity seems impossible for the individual to effect change.
The starfish philosophy must apply. If I find a starfish on the beach, along with a thousand others, all destined to die there. I could save at least one by casting it back into the sea. I can't save them all, but I saved that one.

Thank you Bill. That is my philosophy too. Do what one can, and hope there is a ripple effect. I appreciate your thoughtful review.

"this season" not a good time for "vile" things, not that any time is.
For bullies, the weak make easy targets.
Always good when wrongdoers are punished for their actions.
Someone has to stand up for the oppressed.

Many times, people say remarks that we don't understand. But the one thing is to never make a person confused; it just makes life worse if you cannot believe in that person. When you speak the truth, that is what matters.

Thank you Rosemary. I agree- truth and integrity mean we can have confidence in a person.

Profound thoughts about the calamities requisioned by humanity. Hatred, self sufficiency, greed... but there's hope when people talk about it and act.
Good work

It-s as though the writer sat down with a pen and decided to expose the truth in a voice for the voiceless, offering choice for the choiceless and hope for those feeling perhaps hopeless.
Sparkling in your writing:
-The author has used the pen to engage readers around principles of justice and to imbue hope.
This poem reads as an antidote to the poison pen. It uplifts, speaks out without judgement on behalf of those being chastised.
A very empowering voice in your poem. This poem, readers can feel.
