This seventy-word flash fiction story, Things That Go Bump in the Night, has the proper word count and gives an account of the night before Christmas. Nice.

This piece is very well written. It is amazing that 70 words can communicate a message so effectively. Congratulations! Merry and happy are boldly represented.

What a fun contest entry, Douglas. Your words were well-
chosen. I was waiting for the battle to begin. Then, you
added that twist. Your words created great imagery.
Thank you for sharing, Jan

With every one of your 70 words, you conjured up the magic of Christmas Eve, the chilly air, the silent stillness, the waiting, the stuff of childhood dreams. Well done.

Wait! Fiction? Are you saying Santa isn't real?
MOM! did you read this? Some joker is trying to say Santa isn't real!
What?
I don't know; the author's name was withheld because it is some kind of goofy contest.

The fiction is the reindeer stomping. Any self-respecting sleigh pulling reindeer knows not to stomp on a rooftop with sleeping children below!

    Oh! Sorry. Mom! Never mind.

Good story with a delightful surprise at the end. With help from the picture, I can imagine the reindeers' edgy waiting for the big man to get back aboard.

This a good entry into the 70 words flash fiction contest. The text is a nice size. Thanks for that. The story is well-written. The plot doesn't seem rushed. It's a sweet story that fits the holiday season. It reminds us of the youthful joy of Christmas that has long past for most of us. The visual is great. Good luck in the contest. I will vote for this entry.

This short story begins with a delightful description of animals restlessly waiting in the cold night air to begin their annual trek around the world. You can almost feel the anticipation. Great job. Best wishes in the contest.
