Okay, funny with a wry twist. Would say the "upper classed" deserved it because they could afford to be without a gift or two? It's refreshing to read something that has humor sprinkled into all the syrup that's spread all over everything this time of year. It's like a big dash of chili powder in the oh, so sweet hot coco. I'd give it five and a half stars, if I could, because the rhyme was so well done. Natural and not forced, I know a poem doesn't have to rhyme, but I think it takes real skill to make it seem so natural when it does. Good job.

Thank you so much for the fantastic review, Olivanne. Yes, I had to go beyond the mundane, usual stuff we simply can't escape on here. Lol. I like going against the grain quite often. Haha. Plus, to me, it's not really a poem unless it rhymes. Anyone can just throw some random thoughts together and call it poetry. That's not how I roll though. Haha. I dearly appreciate the gracious stars, O. I'm glad you liked the piece. Have yourself a great Christmas and upcoming new year.

Thank you for sharing this Christmas contest entry with us. Yes, porch pirates have become a thing. I am guessing these newfangled doorbells with cameras in them are helping cure the crime. Good luck with the contest.

Thank you for the great review, Barb. I love watching YouTube videos of porch pirates getting their just rewards trying to steal. It's sad how people will actually stoop this low. I dearly appreciate the gracious stars and good luck wishes. Have yourself a wonderful Christmas.

I am thinking all along that you are just too generous. Will they appreciate your thoughtfulness for granted. You sneaky thief. This made me smile. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations! Your poem is wonderful humor for the holidays. I like the flow of your message. I like that you have a hidden message in the gift-giving. Seams that everyone has a plan. I enjoyed reading it.

I was reading and wondering, "how could anyone possibly afford such extravagant gifts?!"

Well, Merry Christmas to you and your family. Perhaps you will receive the winning ribbon for this contest entry, as you didn't steal it but earned it by writing a very clever, rhyming poem.

Oh wow! You had me hook line and sinker! As I read I was feeling SO guilty for the much more modest and utilitarian gifts I manage to offer...and thinking how very fortunate your family was to have one so generous as you!

THEN~ And this has been such a huge problem in my town this year! These porch pirates seem to think it is a valid job to sneak up and steal what others have struggled to purchase! It's high time someone highlights this horrible behavior ~ and triple kudos for writing this from the "Pirate's" point of view!

Hey, Karenina, hi. Thank you so much for the fantastic review. Yes, it's a shame how some people have to stoop this low. I love watching the YouTube vids of porch pirate blunders, where somehow they get their just reward. Lol. I dearly appreciate the generous stars and comments. Maybe when I win the lottery I'll be able to accomplish this. Haha. I'm glad you liked this silly piece, K. Thank you again. Have yourself a fantastic Christmas and upcoming new year.

Hahaha, I loved this light hearted poem. So you stole it all! Tsk tsk ... That said, your poem does raise the issue of of all the expenses so many go to. That's not really what Christmas is about. It has got totally out of hand. Good luck. Ulla:)))

Yes it has. People are way too much into material things anymore. It's saddening. Thank you so much for the great review, Ulla. I dearly appreciate the gracious stars and good luck wishes. I'm glad you had a chuckle at this silly piece. Have yourself a wonderful Christmas.

This work has reached the exceptional level

This poem reads well and flows well. The rhyme and meter are amazing but the subject itself excels them both.

Even though this appears to be light-hearted poem, underneath it raises complex issues about the whole business of gifting during the Holidays, and our society valuing material possessions and acquisitions, (regardless of how those gifts or possessions were obtained) over other more genuine and morally correct forms of loving, caring and sharing.
I wonder how many people will self-reflect after reading your piece.

Great work! My 6 stars for your piece.

Thank you so much for the fantastic review and big sixer, Sherry. Yes, too many in this world live for the material things rather than real love and affection through the heart. I really appreciate the gracious rating, Sherry. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and thank you again.

Naughty, naughty. Great job with the rhyme. Next year you will probably be sending Christmas cards from jail. It looks like we are going to be competitors in the contest.
