    Hello DR,
thank your for your thoughtful review and comments. Words have power. One only has to look at the beginning of the bible to realize that God spoke the universe into existence. When we use words to control others, there is no end to the sorrow that can be caused.

    Have a blessed day.

This story, Words of the Jailer, identify that freedom from the "group" which can also seem like a shunning from those who used to be friends. One has to choose one over the other.

    Hello Bill,
Thanks for the fine review and comments. When words are used to control another, especially an adult, there is bound to be trouble. We communicate with words because they are powerful.
    Have a blessed day.

An interesting perspective on the topic "the prisoner".

Perhaps some do feel that way, though they always have a choice to consider.

Congrats on the contest win.

Thanks so much Brett for taking the time to read and comment on this. You're right, we all have choices, that 's what life is all about. Unfortunately, some people get sucked into deception and once there, find it difficult to get out. The mind is a tricky place.
    Have a blessed evening.

Nothing could keep him there except the words he
feared the most if he transgressed giant them. You
did a great job with your contest entry, Tom. I believe
most cult have a charismatic leader that ropes members
in then threatens them in a way they fear leaving. They
are brainwashed against the outside world.
Congratulations on your first-place win, Jan

Thanks so much for the great review Jan. You are so right. Unfortunately, most people who get sucked in don't bother to investigate what they are getting involved in. It's easy to want to believe the best about someone, especially if they are promising the answers you've been searching for.
    Have a blessed evening gal.

Congratulations on your well deserved win Tom. Cults are so dangerous and they encourage people to betray their families and manipulate their behaviour, often for financial gain. Also sexual favours are involved behind closed doors, they are closed communities where children are also abused. Yes I would say people who join these cults are imprisoned because it is almost impossible for them to leave, a poignant write, love Dolly x

    Hello Dolly,
Thanks so much for the thoughtful comments and review. I agree totally. Any time we relinquish our free will to another, be it an individual, or a government, there is room for abuse. In fact it's almost a guarantee that it will happen. I spent ten years on a farm that at times could be classified as a cult. While it's gotten so much better than in the early days I could never subject myself to the lifestyle again. By their very nature, cults almost always consider themselves unique, and always there is something to hide and a separation from the rest of society. Thanks again gal.
    Have a blessed day.

A commentary on an imprisonment that can sneak up on you u awards, promising reward of some sort and delivering a dependency or even an addiction. Well done.

Thanks for the fine review and comments. We need to guard our minds and what we allow ourselves to be influenced by. Usually when there is a little warning going off in our head, it's a good idea to heed it.

There is a great truth in your story, and there bare millions of people as we speak, who are imprisoned this way. Sometimes the invisible chain is more cruel than the steel one.

What truth you are speaking Mario. The bonds of the mind are so hard to break sometimes. If one is involved in a cult or something like a cult, it's hard to find people of like mind, so it's a never ending cycle without relief. Thanks for the wonderful review.

Oh dear. Leaving a church is different from "falling away" and refusing to acknowledge Jesus. If his words were the only reason he kept people in his church, then he is guilty of much more. Best wishes for your very well written entry.

The way some cults work is to make people believe that they alone have the word of God, and if you don't follow after them blindly, then you are deceived and have no place with God. Leaving cults can be a tearing experience. Thank you for the fine review.

Well done describing how cults and conspiracy followers are trapped in their thinking and then that affects the person's relationships with family in friends. Best wishes in the contest!

One thing that cults do is convince a person that family members won't understand, that somehow the leaders have a special relationship with God, and others are deceived. Thanks for reviewing this post.

This is powerful and so true! I read this and thought of Jim Jones and his cult down in Guyana and how he used people to bend their minds and asked them in the end to kill themselves. What an amazing day we all will remember. He was the king of the cults and he was evil inside no doubt.

I remember reading about Jim Jones in Newsweek or Time. At the time I was involved in a religious organization and determined that if things ever took a turn to the totally radical, I'd do whatever it took to get out of there. I wasn't going to be a statistic. Thanks for the thoughtful comments.
