Good stuff. So many preach a word that only serves their own purpose. No bars needed when a mind has been committed. The key becomes a deaf ear and a strong will. Good entry.

Thanks for the wise comments. If a person can control another's mind, it's as good as placing them into jail. It's always wise to test what is being preached and compare it to what the bible has to say.

I think you may be describing a cult because there's no bars except the ones drawn across the prisoners mind. Exceptional writing and delivered slowly as the reader waits to solve the mystery. I see a winner here. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest,
Sally :))

Thank you for your kind words and generous review. To be imprisoned by your thoughts is every bit as confining as being physically confined. Have a great day!

"The Prisoner" was well written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It also, read well and flowed well with no Grammar Issues.
...
Cults?
Cultists?
Jim Jones
The Mormon Cultist
All involving ultimate pain followed with Death.
There was an instant California where they were all following this idiot and they all were led to believe they were going to catch a ride on Haley's comet to who knows where instead they are all in their beds and bunk beds dead and their skin was all blackened.
I remember it was on the news and it wasn't a beautiful mansion that they could never sell because the smell was so horrible.
Good luck with your shank and contest entry.

Thanks for taking the time to review this post and for the thoughtful words. I remember that incident. Heaven's Gate was the cult I believe. The leader's name was Applewhite if I recall. Any time we follow another person blindly, not bothering to investigate their beliefs, we open ourselves up to deception.

It sounds like the man in this story truly was imprisoned in a cult. I know what it's like to be trapped in a situation without actual bars or chains. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thanks for your thoughtful review. Prison can come in many forms, not the least of which is the prison of our minds and thoughts. I appreciate your comments.
