Beautiful concept and well-chosen image. Meets contest rules! The image of the swan is one of calm, unruffled beauty! Here the short text evokes the sense of light and shadow on water!

This four-line poem, Swan Story, has the proper formatting and focuses on the beautiful swans who hold a special place in our imaginations through their revered place in literature.

I enjoyed your poem especially the line, 'where shadows cannot shatter their world.' Congratulations on your milestone post! Thanks for sharing, and best wishes in the contest.

This is a beautiful poem with lovely imagery - I particularly like the comparison between two swans and twin moons. The poem has the correct number of syllables per line for the four-line poetry contest and I do like the poem. However, I don't quite get the last line. I am probably missing something obvious though.
Good luck with it

Thank you much for reading and reviewing today. I meant to say in the third line, that in the darkness, where shadow is everywhere just as a function of the night, that the swans have found a dark pond where there are no threats or obstacles to their bliss.

I adore the swans and this year we did not have any! The usually arrive around October to our local pond but we did not see them this year, as you say they are positive and hopeful, love Dolly x

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing this little swan poem. Hm, I have not seen any near me for a while, either. I should probably have gone all the way in downtown to see the aviary to find them.

Congratulations in reaching your milestone. Mine is 3000, if I ever reach it. This is a lovely poem. Excellent imagery with the swans, twin moons. Great alliteration with shadows and shatter. They do suggest a peaceful world. Best of luck in the contest. Merry Christmas to you. judi

I think this is a really great entry in this contest, the wording is really great, there are some metaphors which have a great impact in poetry, and you harnessed a couple of goodies, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

This is a beautiful haiku and a well chosen picture. It's interesting that like a few other creatures, swans mate for life, yet humans consider animals as lesser life forms. They don't have divorce or domestic abuse or sexual predators they must be on guard against. Death or disaster are the only circumstance that fractures their bond. It makes me wonder who the higher life forms really are. Love the poem.
