This is a fascinating snapshot of both person and place. Your ability to provide successive striking images that, while seemingly independent of each other, nonetheless cohere narratively is very impressive.

A very poignant poem. If captured the gritty truth of the urban world and the way if affects the people who live its daily life. A rough life indeed. You're a very good poet.

There is some really strong imagery in this piece which really does bring your writing to life really well, especially with the cathedrals and the mausoleums. I really enjoyed reading it.

A poignant portrait of life in the Bronx ghetto. Well portrayed the grime and grit hard living projects. Well described and touching as tragedy is lived and generally goes unnoticed.
I don't particularity like this unrhymed block style of poetry because it reads like a prose paragraph, even though you made good use of imagery and alliteration. The story was well told, but lacking rhyme and meter, it could just as well be diary entry than a poem. Still, it touched me.

Wait a minute .... so the 1955 in the poem I just reviewd of yours is not the year it was written... I can see that now as this was written in 1961, which makes you about 81 and makes much more sense.
Did you edit this when you posted it now?
Another great poem...but I keep saying that.

That is some intense and well portrayed (expressed?) imagery. So vivid and so real, the descriptions are immaculate. I felt and could very every bit of this journey. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The choice of words, the usage and placement, the intentional use of words, thanks for sharing.
It is the new year for me, so wishing you a "happy" new year!

This is a really powerful and evocative description of a place and time. The vibrancy and the desperation are apparent in all the places described and particularly in the final tragic figure in the foxtail wrap. Thanks for the share.

The two opening lines drew me in so hard. The imagery and description is splendid, not only in the first two lines, but throughout the entire piece. It paints quite the vivid picture. A great write.
