Cody has a following like a cult leader who leads unknowingly. What is there within up that we identify with the little pipsqueak. He pulls me in everytime. I'm staggering around searching out any next chapter featuring Cody. He's a sort of healer for us.

Hi Brett, I can see your point of view. But if this was a blind contest entry, then maybe they felt everyone would recognise you that's my guess, anyway.
Merry Christmas, Ulla:)))

My issue with the whole shebang is Cody is not the only character members enter in multiple contests. However, he was discriminated against by the CEC and is, according to Tom's verification, the only character ever banned by the CEC from being entered into any member-created contest, blind or otherwise. That is what I take exception to. Anyway, appreciate your comments and the review

I like this premise but I'm wondering if the unwanted dog series is on hold or finished. Or are you going to keep both things going in the new year? Cody found the dead body of the old widow. Is he an orphan? I can't remember. Loved the comment about going back a century in the transportation era. Very cute. Gretchen

Unwanted Dog is not finished or on hiatus. Will get back to that in a couple days. Appreciate your comments and the review.

To travel to school in such a hot hot rod and Amish sled would be really amazing especially if it was horse-drawn.
And, as for the CEC.
It's amazing that the contest committee for
Fanstory is so backwards.
And that's why I don't bother because half the time.
Entering their contest?
Opps!!
And why?
Well because they find such things to disqualify you!
...
A while back when I was promoting a writing site called poetry.com which turned out to be a nightmare.
($1,500 wasted)
I gave them access to Fan story and all my work.
Basically they knew nothing about a poetry writing site.
And the only thing I told them was I wanted everything exactly and similar to Fanstory except for certain issues.
And, one of the issues is you can't defend your work. Yes for no matter any reason.
And, if you try to and the person didn't exactly know how to review.
And, they will lie through their teeth of course.
And, if you go and give them a poor review back.
Yes they make it look like spiteful.
So, now we're supposed to block these newbies that come on and don't know anything about writing.
Yes, which is fine but I've lost as much as 5 weeks worth of writing time at once.
Until Tom finally restored me
Merry Christmas.

Two main problems with the CEC are they are obviously discriminatory as Cody is the only recurring character on FanStory they have banned from being entered into contests, although several other members continually enter their same characters in multiple contests. In addition, because they are fellow members of FanStory they only want to play "Favorites", and if you are not one of the members of their "favorites" clique, as I am not, they will go out of their way to do things like ban your entries into contests for no valid reason. I defy anyone, including Tom, to prove me wrong about these two statements. Appreciate the review.

Your Cody stories should be able to be in contests that are not blind, surely? Having said that, I had a Christmas story disqualified last year. We had our family celebration on Christmas Eve, and I wrote about it. Why dq? Because "Christmas hadn't happened yet, and you can't write about something that hasn't happened". So apparently Christmas is just one date, and nothing else is Christmas?! What rubbish. Our celebration was definitely Christmas for us. I don't understand the CEC at all, but I have been dq so frequently from one person's "contests" (for equally strange reasons) that I no longer bother to enter (exactly what she wanted). Anyway .... Thanks for sharing this little post about Cody.

Ha, I got quite a charge out of this one. Arriving at school in a ride not within the accepted "norm" is often a source of embarrassment for children.

Regarding the CEC, I am guessing this was a blind contest? If so then it makes sense they would DQ, as the entry is easily recognizable as yours. That said, I don't see any reason why your Cody stories could not be entered into any contest. Yeesh.

Anyway you've captured a real moment here.

Merry Christmas. :))

I like the story, and you did an excellent job. It's fitting on Christmas Eve for Cody to go to school in a horse and buggy. I think it should be a sleigh with lots of snow on the ground. Have a wonderful Christmas. Shirley

That's Fan Story for you they can say what they want and do what they want including making your disappear at any given moment.
Many armistice in Tenn. still use horse and buggy and still carry on their ways.

I can imagine what it would be like to be to taken to school in a horse and buggy, when we had a gospel gospel, we had a 23 seat red, black and white bus, I would sometimes pick my girls up in that, they were embarrassed before their schoolmates. Beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Short and sweet, I loved this. What age is Cody at this time? Look forward to more of this and your other tale about young boys. I did not know Astatula was Amish in makeup?

It is not, it is a mixed community. The sheriff borrowed the buggy to tote Cody to school. Merry Christmas!
