Thank you for sharing this post. I think I liked it because I am older than dirt also. But, I am grateful to be alive thanks to Tylenol for the arthritis. Your story is very written and made me know that I am not alone. Sarah

Thank you, Sarah. I appreciate your praise, but wish you did not have to experience "cruel aging" like the narrator of my story. Rod

This one-hundred-word story, Two Old Coots, has the required word count and reminds the readers that time is good and should be enjoyed while it lasts.

Very nice, relatable piece. Good work.
I particularly like the line about 'you shoulda seen him in his prime.' I had a previous life and wish my wife could have seen my friends and family back when...
Good luck in the contest.

Oh, that's sad. I loved the dialectal speech you used for your narrator. I especially liked that even the tail wagging made both dog and owner wince. I hope this does well in the contest!

Your contest entry read well, Mystery Author.
It had smooth flow and interesting details and
topic. I liked how the man and dog aged together.
Readers could easily tell the man and the dog loved
one anther.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Your chosen picture is rich in imagery, and pairs perfectly with your 100 word flash fiction entry. People age and pets age, both experiencing aches and pains and disability. We should have seen Abner when he was a pup, and the man when he was a young scout. It's unbelievable what aging will do. Great story. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you so much for sharing and praising my story. As the old coot says, "Aging?s cruel." I?ve found nothing "golden" about the Golden Years.

Two old friends always comfort one another, author. Glad to know that you're still alive and kicking. You penned a good story and I hope you're still alive after you win. :) This is a good entry for the 100 Word Flash Fiction. Thank you for sharing.

This is a 100 Word Flash Fiction Contest entry rich in Theme and Imagery.
It also, read well and Flowed well with No Grammar Issues.

I sometimes at age 68 could be considered an old fart or old coot.
Yes, but you're only as old as you feel inside.
Yes, and the way you present yourself outside! Good luck with your contest entry.

Sad, true to life, well written, who can ask for more. I myself am in my so called years, and have had many pets die of old age. I really can relate to every word. The picture is perfect. Together they make an excellent presentation.

I don't usually post six stars for short entries, but this had a beginning, end and story line I enjoyed. I could be the character herein. Well done. .....................................
